"Laman" is a a root word. From the definitions given above, you will notice that it can take different meanings. By adding affixes to it, other variations in its meaning are possible.
Examples:
"Kapag ang ulam ay baboy, laman lang ang kinakain ko. Hindi ako kumakain ng taba" = When eating pork (lit: when the viand is pork), I only eat the meat. I don't eat the fat.
"Alisin natin ang laman ng kahon" = Let's remove the contents of the box.
"Marami bang laman ang bag mo?" = Does your bag contain a lot of things.
"Madaldal si Maria pero madalas wala namang laman ang mga sinasabi" = Mary talks a lot but often there's no substance in what she says.
"Malalim ang sugat ni Jim, kita na ang laman" = Jim's wound is deep, the flesh can already be seen.
"Pag bumibili ako ng karne, ang pinipili ko ay 'yung MAlamán at hindi 'yung mataba" = When I buy meat ("karne" usually means beef), I choose the meaty parts and not the fatty ones.
"MAlamán ang mga sinabi ni Tom" = The things that Tom said have a lot of substance (carry a lot of weight or may also mean pointed)
"Si John ay hindi mataba. MAlamán lang siya." = John is not fat. He's just stocky.
"Ano ang NIlalaman ng sulat ni Kathy?" = What's stated in Kathy's letter?
"Peanut butter ang PAlaman ng sandwich ko" = Peanut butter is what's inside my sandwich
"Peanut butter din ba ang IPINAlaman/PINAlaman mo sa sandwich mo?" = Is it also peanut butter that you put in your sandwich?
"Kakain ka nang marami para MAGKAlaman ka" = You should eat a lot so you'd gain some weight (lit: so you'd have meat in you. "Para magkalaman ka" is a "kinder" way of saying "para hindi ka buto't balat" (so you won't be bone and skin (skin and bone))
"Ang bag ni Nancy na NAGlalaman ng kanyang passport ang nawawala" = Nancy's bag that contains her passport is the one that's missing.
