ANG Personal Pronouns: Siyá and Silá (He/She and They)

"Siyá" is the Filipino personal pronoun for "he" and "she" and is not gender specific. That means the Filipino word for "he" and "she" is the same.Occasionally you might hear a native Filipino speaker accidentally say "she" when speaking in English when the person is a male, and now you know why! In Filipino there is only one word for he & she, and the word sounds similar to the word "she", which is why it's easy for a Filipino speaker to sometimes make this slip of the tongue.


Silá is the plural form of siyá, equivalent to the word "they" in English.
