I was born in the Philippines pero lumaki ako sa U.S! Both my parents are Filipino and they would often converse with each other as well as me and my siblings in Tagalog, but being around a predominantly English speaking country, I would often respond to them in English. My ability to speak Tagalog fluently started fading away, however my comprehension of the language has continued to stick with me throughout my life!
With my comprehension and previous knowledge, Learning Tagalog over the past year has been pretty easy, though I still find myself sometimes struggling to come up with coherent sentences. Hahaha! However, I have found joy relearning my native language and I am happy that I can understand my parents and family back in the Philippines a lot more!
