Hello! My name is mlb0731 (Mary). I am from Melbourne Beach, Florida and I am a Beginner Filipino language student. I'd like to study the Filipino language(Tagalog) because I was actually born in Manila(I'm half Filipina/American). My dad was stationed at Clark Air Force Base when he met my mom(a long time ago...very long time ago). Six weeks after I was born - (YES... 6 WEEKS ONLY) my parents moved to the states. For what ever reason, my mom didn't teach me tagalog, nor my siblings that followed years later. We understand a few words here & there but not many. I'd also love to understand what my mom's actually saying to all of her friends when she's on the phone, at Filipino parties, & or just in general when she coming at me...at times. Y'all know what I mean - right?!?!?! I can't be the only one. I don't want her to know I'm trying to learn Tagalog after all these years - OH HECK NO! LOL
