I am studying the Filipino language because I have a girlfriend in the Philippines so I plan to move there one day. My girlfriend was bad in English at first but speak very good English now. Her relatives, on the other hand, are still very bad in English. They may understand english somewhat when they listen, but they cannot speak it. So instead of trying to teach the entire family tree English I think it would be easier both for me and them if I tried to learn tagalog. I could as well have tried to learn ilocano since that's their local language in northern Luzon, but since there is more material and tutorials in tagalog and google translate doesn't work on ilocano, I decided to try to learn tagalog first and then learn ilocano once I mastered tagalog.
Currently I speak Swedish,English,Norwegian and some German, so Tagalog would then become my 5th language.
