01:11.0
Ladies and gentlemen, live at Pockets Place,
01:20.0
We got this in post.
01:26.0
I listened to everyone's and everyone left
01:29.0
when it was my turn.
01:30.0
Such a bitch, no?
01:32.0
Story of my life.
01:36.0
What made you go into comedy, Ryan?
01:39.0
Comedy, long story short.
01:42.0
I want the long story long.
01:43.0
You want the long story long?
01:46.0
I used to be a high school choir teacher.
01:51.0
And when the pandemic happened,
01:54.0
everything was shut down.
01:55.0
So we had to do everything on Zoom.
02:01.0
I couldn't get the high school choir teacher impression
02:09.0
When the pandemic came...
02:11.0
Yeah, when the pandemic came,
02:12.0
I was a high school choir teacher.
02:13.0
So we had to do everything on Zoom
02:15.0
because everything was shut down.
02:16.0
And so it just burnt me out
02:20.0
because instead of conducting
02:22.0
or actually being in the same room with people
02:25.0
which is the most fun part about choir,
02:27.0
I had to start making these things
02:29.0
called virtual choir videos,
02:31.0
which means I had maybe 150 students.
02:35.0
They all record themselves and send in a clip.
02:38.0
I edit all of that.
02:42.0
And then they record themselves video.
02:45.0
And then they send me that.
02:46.0
And then I sync everything
02:47.0
and I added cool editing features.
02:50.0
So I was pretty much teaching eight hours a day.
02:52.0
And then afterwards for 10 hours,
02:54.0
I was just editing.
02:55.0
And it just burnt me out.
02:57.0
As opposed to when everything was face-to-face.
03:00.0
Everything was face-to-face?
03:01.0
After eight hours, you were done.
03:04.0
But also when it was in person,
03:07.0
it didn't even feel like work.
03:09.0
Because I love doing it.
03:10.0
I love being with those kids
03:12.0
and making music with them.
03:13.0
And it was just fun.
03:14.0
But for two years, I couldn't do why.
03:18.0
The thing that made me want to become a choir teacher
03:22.0
just burnt me out.
03:23.0
And during that time,
03:24.0
I was doing a lot of acting classes
03:28.0
and improv classes.
03:29.0
And I really enjoyed it.
03:31.0
And then I decided to try out a stand-up class.
03:34.0
And I really enjoyed that.
03:36.0
I took an online stand-up class at Second City.
03:41.0
What was the first?
03:47.0
That's a good question.
03:53.0
I just kept doing it
03:54.0
because I also do some acting.
03:57.0
most of it is you're waiting
03:59.0
or getting rejected.
04:01.0
But stand-up, you can just do it anytime you want.
04:05.0
in like five minutes,
04:06.0
I can go to an open mic place
04:08.0
and just do stand-up.
04:09.0
So I loved how accessible and fast it was.
04:12.0
So I just kept on doing it.
04:14.0
And then I found some success.
04:16.0
And that made me want to just do it
04:19.0
a little bit more and more.
04:20.0
Because it seems like I'm getting
04:23.0
finding more success in that area.
04:25.0
And so I'm just sticking in that lane.
04:28.0
Let's start with improv.
04:31.0
Why did you even think of taking improv classes?
04:35.0
What was the challenge?
04:37.0
What compelled you?
04:39.0
Well, during that time,
04:41.0
I also have like a little audio,
04:44.0
like a recording studio at home.
04:46.0
So I thought I'd try voice acting
04:50.0
because I thought it might be a good side hustle.
04:53.0
And then listening to like voice acting podcasts,
04:56.0
they say you should take improv classes.
05:00.0
Because it will help with like voices.
05:01.0
What do you learn?
05:05.0
You learn to listen.
05:12.0
be in the moment,
05:13.0
think on the spot.
05:19.0
you can't be funny all the time.
05:21.0
Sometimes it's not going to go well.
05:24.0
And sometimes it's going to go amazing.
05:28.0
it's always going to be hit or miss.
05:31.0
It's never going to be like,
05:33.0
if I do this and this,
05:34.0
I'll always be funny.
05:36.0
There's so many factors
05:37.0
that play into like your partner,
05:40.0
If you misheard your partner,
05:41.0
if your partner misheard you.
05:46.0
Do they incorporate the audience
05:47.0
during improv classes?
05:52.0
They don't tell you that
05:53.0
you might be doing improv
05:55.0
in front of an audience.
05:57.0
You got to listen to them too.
06:00.0
No, not too much.
06:02.0
I mean, the audience will give a suggestion
06:04.0
or something at the beginning.
06:06.0
But not a lot of like,
06:08.0
you don't really talk to the audience.
06:11.0
At least not from what I,
06:12.0
the classes I've taken.
06:14.0
Now, stand-up comedy,
06:15.0
what made you take that class
06:17.0
aside from improv?
06:18.0
I was getting bored of improv classes,
06:21.0
but I still wanted to take a class
06:23.0
because I was just at home
06:25.0
So I just wanted to take classes
06:26.0
so I'm not bored.
06:29.0
why don't I try taking a stand-up class?
06:31.0
What was your impression
06:32.0
when you took a stand-up class?
06:43.0
when they do stand-up
06:44.0
for the first time,
06:49.0
I was kind of doing stand-up
06:54.0
You just didn't know it
06:56.0
I just didn't know it
06:57.0
because I was always
07:01.0
trying to recruit people
07:05.0
I was always put into positions
07:06.0
where I had to go into
07:07.0
a room full of strangers
07:10.0
and pitch them something.
07:12.0
Like for example,
07:14.0
I was in charge of
07:16.0
recruiting people
07:18.0
for my choir program.
07:19.0
So I would have to go to
07:20.0
like these random college
07:23.0
and try to convince them
07:28.0
what I was gonna say
07:29.0
but tried to make it
07:30.0
as funny as possible
07:33.0
which is pretty much stand-up.
07:35.0
You're making people
07:36.0
that you never met before
07:39.0
So when I took a stand-up class,
07:42.0
I've done this a lot.
07:43.0
I just don't have to talk
07:44.0
about choir anymore.
07:49.0
stand-up comedy classes,
07:53.0
I only took one class.
07:55.0
Did they teach you
07:58.0
So for that class,
08:04.0
in a different style.
08:06.0
we would write about like,
08:08.0
three minutes of material
08:09.0
that's observational humor.
08:11.0
it might be like,
08:14.0
or like storytelling.
08:16.0
So that's what it was.
08:23.0
You did stand-up class.
08:25.0
You had them both.
08:27.0
You're not doing choir.
08:29.0
You're not teaching choir,
08:30.0
high school choir.
08:32.0
What compelled you
08:33.0
to actually go in front
08:36.0
when did you feel
08:41.0
let me test drive this.
08:45.0
my first open mic,
08:47.0
my first couple open mics,
08:48.0
it was all on Zoom
08:49.0
because everything
08:50.0
was still shut down.
08:53.0
you don't know laughing really.
08:55.0
the clapping emoji
09:03.0
What compelled you
09:12.0
I always like to do something.
09:14.0
I always like to do something
09:15.0
so I had nothing to do.
09:20.0
I always found humor
09:23.0
I think that's funny.
09:24.0
I have a very self-deprecating
09:27.0
it didn't bother me as much.
09:29.0
I kind of enjoyed it
09:34.0
Let's go back to choir,
09:36.0
high school choir teacher.
09:38.0
What was the dream?
09:39.0
Was it really to be
09:40.0
a high school choir teacher?
09:41.0
The dream was to become
09:42.0
a college choir professor
09:44.0
but most college choir professors
09:46.0
by teaching high school
09:47.0
for a couple of years.
09:48.0
So you really like singing?
09:52.0
and I actually wanted
09:54.0
I wanted to be a K-pop singer
09:56.0
but I wasn't good enough
09:57.0
to be a K-pop singer.
09:58.0
I auditioned a lot,
09:59.0
never got a call back.
10:00.0
Wait, explain, explain.
10:02.0
What contributes to being
10:04.0
a good K-pop singer?
10:12.0
is a little bit more important.
10:15.0
That was a big problem.
10:16.0
And I wasn't that good
10:17.0
of a singer either.
10:18.0
So if you're a bad dancer
10:19.0
you have to be like
10:22.0
Or you have to be like
10:23.0
crazy good looking, you know.
10:28.0
I am crazy good looking
10:29.0
but I'm not a good dancer.
10:32.0
I'm just a crazy bad dancer.
10:36.0
So no K-pop there.
10:41.0
But I thought maybe
10:42.0
I could go to college
10:46.0
maybe I'll still be
10:48.0
audition later on.
10:50.0
a community college
10:52.0
a good high school.
10:54.0
I went to a community college.
10:55.0
Yeah, well my grades weren't that good
10:56.0
to get into the schools
10:57.0
I wanted to get into at the time.
10:59.0
And in that community college
11:00.0
it was a really good,
11:01.0
they have a really good
11:03.0
And that's when I
11:05.0
I went to that community college
11:09.0
Which community college?
11:10.0
Mount San Antonio College
11:12.0
They have a really good
11:14.0
and slowly over the years
11:17.0
this is pretty cool.
11:18.0
And that's when I decided
11:19.0
I think I would be happy
11:20.0
being a college choir teacher.
11:27.0
How's your patience?
11:30.0
I think I'm a very patient
11:34.0
But the school I was at,
11:37.0
lovely kids for sure.
11:45.0
is a disservice to them
11:47.0
if you are patient.
11:49.0
Because they don't respond
11:53.0
So I would still respond
11:55.0
even if I wasn't being
11:56.0
patient with them.
11:58.0
I couldn't control my anger
12:01.0
this is how I know
12:03.0
what will make them
12:04.0
respond the best.
12:05.0
That's what I know
12:06.0
will motivate them the best.
12:11.0
the school I went to
12:15.0
It was a private Catholic school
12:16.0
but there was a good mix
12:19.0
and I liked that.
12:21.0
I wasn't a rich kid.
12:23.0
I was maybe lower
12:26.0
I always responded
12:27.0
better to teachers
12:28.0
who were kind of like
12:32.0
my natural personality
12:36.0
with those students
12:37.0
I quickly realized
12:39.0
a little bit more
12:42.0
or a little bit more intense
12:44.0
or they will never listen to me.
12:46.0
is the dream to become
12:50.0
or are you still going back
12:59.0
college professor
13:00.0
is completely off the table
13:01.0
because I have a lot of
13:04.0
two masters for it.
13:05.0
By the time I retired
13:08.0
acting and stand-up
13:13.0
I was going to be
13:14.0
a college choir professor.
13:17.0
there's still a chance
13:21.0
Let's talk about choir.
13:28.0
Do I like about it?
13:29.0
Do you like or love?
13:31.0
What challenges you
13:32.0
being a choir professor
13:36.0
want to be a choir teacher?
13:43.0
my voice is baritone
13:46.0
I really don't sing
13:47.0
and it was a challenge
13:50.0
to actually get me to
13:54.0
and sing my part right.
13:59.0
come to work everyday
14:00.0
to actually do it
14:01.0
especially if you have kids
14:06.0
That's when I say
14:08.0
I go to the principal
14:09.0
I can't work here
14:12.0
I can't teach Paco
14:26.0
I want to be a choir
14:31.0
the first concert I ever saw
14:34.0
that's like their top group
14:42.0
something like that
14:47.0
from a performance
14:49.0
I would feel very fulfilled
14:52.0
that's kind of it
14:59.0
to experience that
15:03.0
for making people
15:08.0
looking at the performance
15:12.0
you were looking at the person
15:13.0
responsible for delivering
15:15.0
or for making that performance
15:25.0
he's in charge of
15:30.0
and making people
15:44.0
you need work ethic
15:48.0
really good choir director
15:57.0
so I also like that too
15:58.0
So when you told your parents
15:59.0
when you told your parents
16:00.0
you wanted to be a choir
16:02.0
what did they say?
16:06.0
they always told me
16:11.0
so I was pretty lucky
16:13.0
I had a lot of Asian friends
16:18.0
I want to do something
16:19.0
that's not a doctor
16:21.0
and you get a big
16:24.0
so you had none of those
16:28.0
you have siblings?
16:31.0
what they want to do also?
16:35.0
you guys have the same parents
16:46.0
and he's doing accounting now
16:49.0
we had a bit of a
16:50.0
my family had a bit of a setback
16:52.0
for a couple years
16:53.0
where money was very very tight
16:57.0
so I was able to move out
16:58.0
and go to college
16:59.0
so I didn't have to
17:00.0
I think deal with it as much
17:02.0
he was still in high school
17:03.0
so he had to stay
17:04.0
in that environment
17:05.0
so I think for him
17:10.0
financial security
17:18.0
that's a good perspective
17:20.0
so he went that route
17:21.0
and I understand it
17:22.0
but he definitely
17:23.0
my parents would've
17:24.0
wouldn't have minded
17:25.0
if he went the other way
17:28.0
I think he kind of was
17:29.0
he values financial security a lot
17:31.0
because of that experience
17:33.0
that you're trying to be
17:34.0
are you trying to be an actor
17:36.0
because you mentioned
17:40.0
rejection and acting
17:43.0
ooh the dating part
17:44.0
how do you deal with all of those stuff
17:50.0
I think I know that story
17:53.0
I was paying attention
17:55.0
out of a relationship
17:59.0
she might listen to this
18:02.0
you might have to edit that out
18:05.0
no I'm just kidding
18:07.0
but let's talk about acting
18:10.0
okay let's talk about dating
18:15.0
if we talk about acting
18:16.0
we'll end up talking about dating
18:17.0
if we talk about dating
18:18.0
we'll end up talking about acting
18:19.0
we could talk about both
18:22.0
acting and dating
18:23.0
what's the priority
18:29.0
but right now acting
18:32.0
if I was more successful
18:33.0
it would be dating
18:39.0
it just wouldn't make sense for me to
18:42.0
especially if being an actor
18:45.0
is already so hard
18:47.0
you know you can't really
18:49.0
prioritize anything else
18:51.0
or it'll be more difficult
18:53.0
is it really hard
18:54.0
yeah oh yeah really hard
18:55.0
can you explain the process
18:56.0
like you can't just say
18:59.0
are you part of the union
19:01.0
part of the guild no
19:06.0
when you say actor
19:08.0
like what are the things
19:09.0
you need to prepare for
19:10.0
mentally physically
19:18.0
honestly what I think
19:20.0
and I might be wrong is
19:24.0
a perseverance thing
19:27.0
I think that if you're
19:30.0
continuously pursuing it
19:32.0
putting yourself out there
19:33.0
and doing good work
19:36.0
the chances of you succeeding
19:39.0
is I think it's kind of
19:41.0
I mean it might be one year
19:42.0
it might be 20 years
19:46.0
but it's bound to happen
19:47.0
yeah I think if you're good
19:48.0
and you keep pursuing it
19:50.0
I think it's kind of
19:53.0
this episode is brought to you by
19:55.0
Leo Bato and Associates
19:57.0
the realtor of Bato
20:02.0
like if someone's really good
20:04.0
but he doesn't hustle
20:05.0
he might get one edition a month
20:08.0
and if someone else is
20:12.0
50 editions a month
20:13.0
it's a numbers thing you know
20:16.0
auditions is not like
20:17.0
really all your talent
20:21.0
it's your personality
20:22.0
it's how you vibe
20:23.0
with that director
20:24.0
that casting director
20:25.0
there's so many factors
20:27.0
where it's not just
20:28.0
oh if you're good
20:29.0
you're gonna be successful
20:30.0
there's so many factors
20:31.0
that it's almost like
20:32.0
you have to also hustle
20:33.0
I think hustle is actually
20:34.0
a little bit more important
20:36.0
you're doing the audition
20:42.0
the audition itself
20:46.0
I've gotten used to it
20:47.0
especially because
20:48.0
I've been auditioning
20:49.0
since I was like in middle school
20:50.0
because I was in choir
20:55.0
how do you deal with
20:56.0
the rejection though
21:01.0
we'll talk about dating
21:04.0
because there are people
21:07.0
don't deal with rejection
21:11.0
and then you wonder
21:12.0
do you think really
21:13.0
that you're gonna
21:14.0
get it on the first try
21:17.0
how do you deal with rejection
21:19.0
I always hope for the best
21:22.0
but prepare for the worst
21:27.0
I already put myself
21:32.0
if I don't get this
21:34.0
that's gonna suck
21:35.0
but I kinda prepare myself
21:36.0
so I don't really have expectations
21:38.0
like stoicism right
21:39.0
like being a stoic
21:46.0
the faster you realize
21:49.0
it's not gonna be
21:50.0
it's not gonna happen fast
21:51.0
the easier it's gonna be
21:53.0
so if you're thinking like
21:54.0
oh I'm gonna become famous
21:56.0
of course every rejection
21:59.0
but if you're thinking
22:01.0
this is probably gonna take a while
22:02.0
so let's just try to have as much fun
22:05.0
then it hurts a lot less
22:08.0
and then there's the
22:10.0
the rejection of the dating part
22:12.0
which part of the
22:15.0
and this I'm gonna
22:17.0
I'm gonna ask you
22:21.0
Filipinos who are new to the States
22:25.0
the Philippine style of courtship
22:27.0
in the Philippines
22:28.0
is different from how
22:30.0
arranged marriages?
22:33.0
but in the Philippines
22:37.0
they formalize the courtship
22:44.0
getting the dates
22:45.0
the hard part for me
22:48.0
let's talk about that
22:50.0
being the hard part for you
22:54.0
when you go out dating
22:56.0
and you said you're
23:02.0
what do you tell the girls
23:03.0
if they ask what you do?
23:06.0
I'm an entrepreneur
23:14.0
I tell them I'm a freelance
23:19.0
I'm always honest
23:20.0
I'm always honest and
23:29.0
not because I can't be decisive
23:31.0
but because I am just
23:32.0
I think that laid back
23:33.0
you're being indecisive right now
23:41.0
I am a decisive person
23:42.0
but when a girl says
23:43.0
like what do you wanna eat?
23:44.0
or when a girl says
23:46.0
like what should we do?
23:48.0
I'm fine with anything
23:52.0
don't you realize that's your
23:55.0
what do you wanna do?
23:57.0
that's the problem
23:58.0
but so my natural personality
24:00.0
is just not what girls like
24:06.0
I feel kind of like
24:07.0
oh well I'm not being me
24:09.0
what if in like 5 years
24:11.0
I don't wanna be decisive
24:12.0
and then she's like
24:16.0
I just have a person
24:29.0
when was the last time
24:30.0
you were out on a date?
24:38.0
let's go on a date
24:40.0
let's go on a date
24:45.0
well it's just a friend
24:51.0
define that for me
24:53.0
for people who don't understand
24:54.0
the definition of dating
24:56.0
and having a girlfriend
24:57.0
what are the differences?
25:01.0
that's such a good question
25:02.0
I think it's just
25:04.0
cause I know some people are like
25:05.0
well if you're just hanging out
25:06.0
and being friends
25:07.0
that's the same as dating
25:15.0
if we're dating or not
25:16.0
cause that's just
25:18.0
like when you say
25:20.0
that means you're my girlfriend
25:21.0
I'm your boyfriend
25:26.0
we're figuring out
25:29.0
that's the audition
25:31.0
that's the audition
25:32.0
so it's kind of saying
25:33.0
like I'm not gonna talk
25:36.0
but we're not like
25:41.0
so that's purgatory
25:44.0
but that's the place
25:45.0
I can't even get to
25:47.0
I'm still in hell
25:48.0
so what do we call
25:53.0
and I've been in hell
25:54.0
for a very long time
25:56.0
so how can we get
25:57.0
to purgatory then?
26:00.0
you have to help me
26:01.0
put it in the comments
26:07.0
and into purgatory
26:11.0
you're not seeing anybody
26:13.0
she's not seeing anybody
26:15.0
but you guys are not
26:19.0
and I know it sounds dumb
26:21.0
well actually here's why
26:22.0
I like that clarity
26:28.0
when I like someone
26:31.0
when like a relationship
26:35.0
and when I'm heartbroken
26:38.0
I don't wanna do anything
26:46.0
do you wanna just be friends?
26:48.0
then I don't have to
26:49.0
then I could prepare myself
26:51.0
like okay I can't
26:53.0
I know I could like
26:54.0
dude that's the most
26:55.0
that's the most indecisive move
27:00.0
that's why I'm trying to say
27:01.0
that's my personality
27:02.0
and girls don't like it
27:06.0
why don't you just go in and commit?
27:09.0
what do you mean?
27:11.0
do you wanna be my girlfriend?
27:13.0
but she doesn't wanna go on a date
27:14.0
so she'll probably say no to
27:16.0
being my girlfriend
27:18.0
if she goes on a date with you
27:21.0
that's not dating yet
27:22.0
that's prospecting
27:26.0
I don't know anymore
27:28.0
do you think I should
27:30.0
so you think it might be better
27:31.0
if we just hang out as friends
27:33.0
and then after a while
27:35.0
let's just be a girlfriend
27:37.0
or the natural process would be
27:38.0
going out group dates
27:40.0
and then later on you find yourself
27:42.0
going out just one on one
27:45.0
and then after that
27:46.0
you find yourself just
27:47.0
that's what I should do
27:52.0
so is there any hope?
27:55.0
right now with the girl
27:56.0
that said no to me?
28:00.0
you bring your friends
28:02.0
but we don't have any mutual friends
28:04.0
create mutual friends
28:06.0
introduce your friends to her
28:08.0
she's an introvert
28:09.0
introduce your introvert friends to her
28:13.0
but what if they don't want to go out?
28:17.0
that's a good question though
28:18.0
she's an introvert
28:19.0
you're an extrovert
28:20.0
are you an extrovert?
28:21.0
I'm an introvert too
28:22.0
but I'm very good at being extroverted
28:24.0
oh you're ambivert
28:25.0
you're an ambivert
28:30.0
so she's an introvert
28:31.0
well I'll give you the full story now
28:34.0
without revealing her name
28:35.0
you know it's not just me right?
28:37.0
thousands of people watching you
28:39.0
and if you tell her
28:44.0
okay without telling her name
28:48.0
I asked her out on a date
28:51.0
she's emotionally unavailable
28:53.0
I completely respect that
28:57.0
that maybe we shouldn't
29:02.0
why did you doctor fail her?
29:05.0
you just did a doctor fail on her
29:07.0
why did you diagnose?
29:09.0
you're not emotionally ready right?
29:10.0
maybe we shouldn't talk everyday
29:16.0
what if I like her?
29:17.0
and then that's gonna put her
29:18.0
in a more awkward situation
29:20.0
that's for her to decide
29:27.0
because if she doesn't wanna talk to you
29:28.0
she can say it herself
29:30.0
but you just gave her an out
00:00.0
30:07.000 --> 30:08.000
30:09.0
I told her I love talking to you
30:12.0
that's what you say
30:13.0
that's what I told her
30:15.0
what did she say?
30:16.0
but I said we shouldn't
30:18.0
that's so indecisive of you
30:24.0
what if I end up liking her more
30:28.0
that's for you to know
30:29.0
that those are your cards
30:30.0
you should be looking at that
30:31.0
they shouldn't be on the table
30:34.0
see that's my problem
30:36.0
I put everything on the table
30:38.0
as long as she doesn't see it
30:39.0
put them on the table
30:41.0
I already showed her all my cards
30:44.0
now start talking to her
30:45.0
there's nothing to lose right?
30:50.0
I talked to her again
30:51.0
for the first time
30:52.0
what did she say?
30:53.0
after waiting one day
30:54.0
that's a long time
31:04.0
I can talk to you everyday
31:06.0
and I already am talking to her again
31:07.0
and she talked to you
31:14.0
so but my problem is
31:18.0
because now I'm gonna treat her as a friend right?
31:21.0
well because she said
31:22.0
she's not ready for a
31:27.0
wouldn't that be me
31:28.0
making her feel uncomfortable?
31:30.0
because there's nothing you can do
31:31.0
that she wouldn't allow
31:37.0
so I'm making her
31:38.0
so I'm just kind of
31:40.0
you're creating a ghost
31:43.0
she's telling you she's not ready
31:49.0
because when she's ready
31:50.0
you want to be the person there
31:54.0
okay but here's my fear
32:00.0
so what if I'm there for her
32:04.0
I still don't like you
32:06.0
and I've been waiting for her
32:15.0
yeah because you know what?
32:16.0
she may not like you
32:18.0
she may not like you
32:19.0
because you're always there
32:21.0
and then you know what?
32:22.0
you know how women are right?
32:23.0
when you start liking someone else
32:25.0
that's when they go
32:27.0
but now you've invested a year
32:28.0
you know what a year can do?
32:29.0
I've invested a year
32:30.0
I've invested a year
32:31.0
you know what a year can do?
32:32.0
a year can show her
32:33.0
who you really are
32:34.0
a year can show you
32:35.0
who she really is
32:41.0
and she likes me less?
32:48.0
could've taken a month
32:50.0
it took her a year
32:56.0
I'm being too much of a nice guy
32:58.0
and nice guys finish what?
33:03.0
you gotta be abrasive
33:04.0
a little bit abrasive
33:08.0
that's what I'm saying
33:09.0
it's not my personality
33:11.0
it doesn't have to be
33:14.0
when I say being abrasive
33:15.0
like you're self-deprecating
33:17.0
being self-deprecating
33:19.0
because that means
33:20.0
you're putting your guard down
33:21.0
you don't need to
33:22.0
you don't need to impress
33:24.0
you're not impressing
33:25.0
but at the same time
33:26.0
what's killing you
33:27.0
is your indecisiveness
33:28.0
because you could be
33:31.0
you know we're going to In-N-Out
33:32.0
and you're ordering
33:33.0
I'm ordering number 2
33:37.0
and then you can't say
33:39.0
if the guy on the intercom says
33:43.0
yeah that's right
33:47.0
you can't say that
33:54.0
you should start calling her
33:57.0
you should start asking her out
34:00.0
like benign dates
34:01.0
like probably get a burger
34:03.0
don't say Netflix
34:07.0
wouldn't she say no?
34:09.0
that's her problem
34:10.0
why are you saying no for her?
34:13.0
she'll probably say no
34:15.0
then say what you want to do
34:18.0
she says I don't want to see you
34:24.0
and then she'll say
34:25.0
I don't want to see you tomorrow either
34:29.0
now we're getting somewhere right now
34:31.0
you should thank her
34:32.0
because she's not wasting your time
34:36.0
you want to get the no
34:38.0
you want to get all the no's out
34:40.0
because all no's lead to a yes
34:42.0
you don't want the fake yes
34:43.0
because the fake yes
34:44.0
will just force her into
34:46.0
and then once she's done with her no's
34:49.0
wow this guy is relentless
34:52.0
I said no so many times
34:55.0
and he's still here
34:58.0
she'll probably go out with you
34:59.0
because she's intrigued
35:03.0
she actually said
35:12.0
like pursuing a woman
35:16.0
like a wind blowing a tree
35:18.0
if it blows long enough
35:19.0
the tree will eventually fall down
35:24.0
well this is before
35:25.0
when we met on the first day
35:28.0
so you felt that you were the wind
35:29.0
or you were the tree?
35:37.0
dirt on the ground
35:39.0
because the tree needs dirt
35:44.0
but the wind is the boyfriend
35:49.0
where the dirt is
35:50.0
ready to catch her
35:53.0
change in perspective
36:03.0
why did I do that?
36:04.0
no what you did was good
36:07.0
yeah because you stumbled on yourself
36:08.0
now all you need to do is
36:10.0
knowing how you stumbled
36:11.0
and there's nothing more
36:14.0
because you already did
36:15.0
the stumbling part
36:20.0
actually what you did was good
36:23.0
took away all the
36:24.0
you addressed the elephant
36:26.0
and that's the hard part
36:28.0
do you not like me?
36:29.0
I'm not emotionally ready
36:36.0
I just keep talking to her
36:37.0
as if nothing happened
36:39.0
you didn't want to talk to me
36:41.0
I changed my mind
36:42.0
because I'm indecisive
36:51.0
that's where you use it
36:59.0
what do you think Nino?
37:01.0
what do you think guys?
37:02.0
put it in the comments below also
37:03.0
no but Ryan seriously
37:05.0
because you've got
37:06.0
a nice personality
37:08.0
you're self-deprecating
37:10.0
what's the opposite?
37:11.0
you're full of yourself
37:15.0
it's very disarming
37:20.0
let them shoot you in the foot
37:30.0
after hearing you explain it
37:35.0
I won't talk to you
37:37.0
because you were uncomfortable
37:39.0
sometimes silence is golden
37:42.0
like when you're on the phone together
37:43.0
put it in your head
37:44.0
he who talks first loses
37:51.0
I'm not emotionally ready
37:56.0
I'm not emotionally ready
38:07.0
not really that emotionally ready
38:13.0
I'm not emotionally ready
38:14.0
okay I won't talk to you everyday
38:31.0
I've made a huge mistake
38:34.0
do we even want this on the podcast?
38:38.0
because if you're gonna talk to her
38:39.0
and she's watching
38:42.0
well like you said Paco
38:45.0
I have nothing to lose
38:47.0
because I already lost
38:53.0
if you haven't really played the game?
38:58.0
that sounds even worse
39:02.0
you took yourself out right?
39:06.0
and then remember
39:07.0
half of something
39:08.0
is better than 100% of nothing
39:11.0
emotionally not ready?
39:13.0
you're not ready to give me the 100%
39:16.0
I'll just stay here
39:22.0
because you know what
39:24.0
until someone comes along
39:25.0
who's emotionally ready
39:27.0
hey girl you know what
39:28.0
she's 100% ready for me
39:30.0
I'll give you my 10
39:31.0
and I'll give her my 9
39:34.0
she'll wake up and go
39:38.0
oh now you have a good problem
39:39.0
should I go with her?
39:40.0
or should I go with this?
39:43.0
but always go for the
39:46.0
you can't give me 100%
39:49.0
happens in the grey
39:53.0
that's my problem
39:55.0
I want everything
39:56.0
to be black or white
39:57.0
but it can only be
40:09.0
and she'll be sitting
40:11.0
maybe in 6 months
40:13.0
or maybe we should do
40:15.0
maybe we should do this
40:17.0
to see where Ryan is at
40:28.0
maybe we should do this
40:30.0
would want to see
40:31.0
where is Ryan Ku now
40:33.0
that's a good point
40:37.0
their piece of advice
40:42.0
we're on to something
40:48.0
I haven't seen that
40:49.0
is it a dating movie
40:50.0
was it a dating movie
41:10.0
but this should be
41:13.0
we're taping this
41:15.0
we'll air it probably
41:18.0
you have to come back
41:19.0
then we have to do it again
41:20.0
that's a good point
41:25.0
to see what happens
41:30.0
you're gonna have me
41:34.0
around for that long
41:35.0
it might take 10 years
41:45.0
watching your episodes
41:49.0
and she'll be like
41:51.0
to give him a chance
42:06.0
I was just being too nice
42:08.0
or maybe pretending
42:19.0
thanks for having me
42:27.0
that acting and dating
42:29.0
acting and dating
42:30.0
like the rejection
42:35.0
acting and dating
42:39.0
acting is kind of like
42:41.0
the first states of dating
42:44.0
as soon as you walk into that room
42:46.0
first impressions
42:51.0
