The first underpass in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region expected to ease travel to Bicol region and southern part of this province was inaugurated and officially opened to motorists here on Wednesday.
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar led the inauguration of the 419-meter, four-lane underpass that was constructed on Diversion Road in Barangay Gulang-Gulang this city.
Villar, who also led the official "drive-through" of the infrastructure project, said it took two years to be completed, with a total fund of PHP245 million.
He thanked Quezon 2nd District Rep. David Suarez for his help to finish the project.
Villar said the road project is part of President Rodrigo Duterte's “Build, Build, Build†program, rolls out road networks to decongest major roads and highways and to lessen travel time between provinces.
