Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was safe after what the FBI said appeared to be an assassination attempt on Sunday (September 15) outside Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Law enforcement officials told a news conference that they apprehended a suspect who was spotted by U.S. Secret Service agents with an AK-47-style assault rifle outside the Trump National Golf Course. Secret Service agents fired shots, and the suspect fled in a black SUV. Trump's campaign had earlier said he was safe following gunshots in his vicinity but gave no details. The Secret Service said it was investigating the incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. (1730 GMT).
