Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano apologized Wednesday to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for turning "emotional" during the Senate plenary deliberations on the agency's budget.
Cayetano was referring to his inquiries during the period of interpellation regarding the Laguna Lake shore project, which he claimed would worsen traffic in the area.
"Gagawin niyong 2 oras trapik namin? Lipat niyo opisina niyo doon, kayo tumira doon, gagawa kayo ng highway, sasabihin niyo sa lahat ng taga-Laguna, 15 minutes, 30 minutes na lang. Eh hindi nga makatawid ng kalye ngayon ng 20 minutos eh," Cayetano said.
After a 10 minute hearing suspension, Cayetano walked back his comments while emphasizing the need for proper consultations on the project.
