Michelle Marquez Dee Takes a Legit Lie Detector Test (#ByBea Lie Detector Ep.19) | Bea Alonzo
00:32.3
Parang mali na din ako yung mga sa mata.
00:34.5
Parang nakita ko sa mata niya.
00:49.8
Hello, beautiful people!
00:51.1
Welcome back to my channel.
00:52.8
So it is another day for a Lie Detector Challenge.
00:56.1
And today, we will be joined by a very gorgeous woman with substance.
01:00.8
She is an actress, a model, an athlete, a philanthropist.
01:04.8
And our Miss Universe Philippines, Miss Michelle D.
01:08.6
Welcome to my channel!
01:12.2
Hello, beautiful people!
01:13.2
Thank you for doing this!
01:14.2
No, thank you so much for subjecting me to probably my best Q&A training before Miss Universe.
01:21.0
I know! We still get nervous.
01:22.4
Well, now I'm sure you're nervous.
01:23.9
Is this your first time taking a polygraph test?
01:27.3
And ano pala, trivia, kasi maraming tao hindi nakakaalam na matagal na tayo magkakilala.
01:32.6
Si Michelle, kilala ko siya when she was about nine years old.
01:35.6
Yung PA pa ni Bea, yung nag-aalaga sakin on set.
01:38.8
Shout out, I love you, Ate Rose!
01:40.5
I remember I went to Cebu pa with my mom, and then I came back with like a souvenir for you.
01:44.7
Like a bracelet or something.
01:45.7
She was so sweet.
01:46.7
Sa pelikula naming, Close to You, mommy ko doon si Tita Melanie.
01:50.7
And we would shoot in Tagaytayba or Antipolo.
01:54.0
And she would always bring you to the set.
01:55.8
I'm so glad to be part of your journey, and I'm so glad to see you grow into this very beautiful woman.
02:01.5
You know, chika lang, I feel like kaya ko sumasama sa mom ko, parang kasama ko si Bea, parang kasi I really...
02:08.0
It was really fun.
02:10.0
It was a fun time.
02:11.0
So all of those people that doubt na buntutokhan ng nanay ko when I was young, kebs na lang.
02:15.1
Lahat nag-shoot namin, guys, nandun siya.
02:18.0
So hindi ako pumapasok.
02:19.5
Tapos nanonosebait pa kami sa kanya kasi hindi siya marunan parang magtagalo.
02:24.3
Ayo, ayo, ayo, ayo.
02:25.3
Ako, I'm nervous now.
02:26.3
This is Kuya Bonso, na nabibiyan na earlier.
02:29.3
True to his character.
02:30.3
So, meron ka bang isang tanong na iniiwasan?
02:34.3
Hindi ko sasabihin sa'yo.
02:36.3
So hindi ko itanong.
02:37.3
Hindi ko sasabihin sa'yo.
02:38.3
Pero you're normally chill and cool.
02:40.3
I usually have a very stoic face.
02:43.3
Like, I have grace under pressure.
02:45.3
So even if I'm nervous on stage, like I can mask that.
02:50.0
Before we start, I'd like to thank Eyespy, Detectives and Investigators for conducting this test.
02:56.0
And also Sotogrande for allowing us to shoot here today.
03:00.0
So are you ready?
03:03.0
I always have to be ready.
03:15.0
Okay, stop fidgeting, Michelle.
03:17.0
Mag-start na tayo.
03:18.8
Pwede na muna tayo sa warm-up question.
03:21.8
Is your full name Michelle Daniela Marquez D?
03:27.8
Were you born April 24, 1995?
03:37.8
Do you think you will pass this test with flying colors?
03:42.8
I love the confidence.
03:43.8
Tingnan natin kung hanggang mamaya ganyan siya confident.
03:45.8
I'm channeling my inner psycho, guys.
03:49.8
You are the current reigning Miss Universe Philippines and your journey to the crown hasn't been easy.
03:54.8
Do you think that if you weren't Miss Melanie's daughter, the netizens and pageant critics would have gone easier on you?
04:04.8
Especially for my first pageant, it really helped me stand out.
04:07.8
Being tagged as the daughter of Melanie Marquez, the cousin of Win-Win.
04:12.6
But ultimately on my last try, which is Miss Universe Philippines, you're up against so many beautiful women, so many deserving women also.
04:20.6
Yes, it is a factor because they have a certain expectation because my mom won.
04:24.6
But at the end of the day, you're a representative of the country.
04:28.6
And when they see you, I guess they see a bit of themselves and how they want to be represented also.
04:33.6
So that's kind of like how I view things.
04:37.3
There is no easier way out of bashing or easier way out of everyone being opinionated.
04:43.3
Or maybe you also see it as an edge, as a plus for you.
04:47.3
The fact that you have somebody who has gone through the same experience.
04:51.3
It was definitely a plus again during my first pageant because I was banking on all of the advice that my parents gave me.
04:59.3
But number one, it's a different pageant.
05:03.1
Number two, this is the year where I wanted to shine as unapologetically authentic as possible.
05:09.1
So now I'm standing behind the fact that I know I'm showcasing myself for who I am.
05:14.1
When you were young, did you really idolize your mom?
05:17.1
I idolized her, but I didn't know until we moved back here, I didn't know she was an artiste.
05:22.1
I didn't know she was famous. I didn't know she was iconic.
05:24.1
And when did you realize you wanted to become an artiste?
05:27.1
When I wanted to make money.
05:29.1
Ah, that's really it.
05:31.8
When I was younger, when I would see you taping and everything, I genuinely had such a good time.
05:37.8
And I've always been fascinated handling cameras.
05:40.8
I've always been a creative.
05:43.8
So I remember clearly, around 14 or 13, I was like, Mom, I want to be an artiste.
05:48.8
But my mom put her foot down. She was like, No, you have to finish studies first.
05:52.8
So I kind of just put it in the back of my head.
05:55.8
Didn't really take it seriously anymore until I was in college.
05:59.6
And I said, You know what, I really want to make money.
06:01.6
More money, not just depend on an allowance.
06:03.6
I wanted to be independent.
06:05.6
That's why I started modeling first.
06:07.6
Tried to work on whatever I had.
06:09.6
Do you regret it?
06:10.6
Do I regret being an actress first?
06:14.6
For me, I assessed what my weaknesses were.
06:17.6
And one of that was the confidence.
06:19.6
So I really wanted to become an actress first.
06:21.6
To be comfortable speaking in front of cameras.
06:24.6
Acting in front of sets and all of that.
06:28.4
Being in front of people and being in the limelight.
06:30.4
And that helped me keep my grace under pressure while I'm on stage.
06:36.4
Your mom has an iconic pasarela.
06:38.4
Is it your intention to have your own signature walk?
06:46.4
Okay, so my pasarela trainer and I, Ian Mendajar,
06:50.1
of course, we've always wanted to do something
06:53.1
that was taken from my mom's former performances.
06:58.1
And really take inspiration from that.
07:00.1
But we didn't know what would stick.
07:02.1
But of course, to answer the question about the signature walk,
07:05.1
you can never make your signature walk.
07:07.1
It really has to come from the fans.
07:09.1
The fans make it stick.
07:11.1
The fans name it.
07:12.1
I feel like if I put the name to it, it wouldn't be as authentic.
07:16.9
One of my mom's signature walks is walking left and right to the stage.
07:19.9
So we call that the S-Walk.
07:21.9
So that was very Melanie Marquez.
07:23.9
And the reason why I really pushed for something inspired by her walk,
07:26.9
was because it was Mother's Day the next day.
07:30.9
Maybe Tita Mel cried.
07:32.9
So I won Miss Universe and the next day was Mother's Day.
07:35.9
And then of course, the poses.
07:37.9
I have always been somebody that isn't the stereotype beauty queen.
07:44.6
So I never actually make a big deal.
07:46.6
I don't hold my waist.
07:47.6
I really try to be high fashion.
07:49.6
I wanted to do something different.
07:51.6
And really make my authentic self shine through.
07:53.6
What do you think is a strength of yours?
07:57.6
Well, what my mentors would always say is that
07:59.6
the one thing that people can never take away from me
08:01.6
is my stage presence.
08:05.6
Everybody has their right to their own opinion though.
08:07.6
I know I'm not perfect.
08:09.6
But the pageantry is really different.
08:11.6
Pero ngayong pag-usapan natin yung cousin mo.
08:15.6
Yes, nasa pageant world din.
08:17.6
Si Win-Win who was the reina.
08:19.6
His Pano-Amerikano.
08:23.6
Was there a time na nagselos ka sa pagkakapanalo niya?
08:29.6
Are you guys close?
08:31.6
Actually, because I grew up in the States.
08:33.6
So I never, and this is the same with my mom and my dad.
08:35.6
I grew up in the States so I never really got to grow up with her.
08:39.6
But the time that we did become close
08:41.6
was when we hosted a show together.
08:45.6
It was a GMA show.
08:47.6
So that's when we actually became very close cousins.
08:49.6
I was about to say friends but we're cousins.
08:51.6
And you have a lot of things in common.
08:57.6
it was during Glow Up,
08:59.6
that show that I decided to join Miss World after.
09:03.6
So in between tapings,
09:05.6
in between shots,
09:07.6
I got advice from her and see how her journey was also.
09:09.6
And it was very helpful.
09:11.6
Actually, the last person I saw
09:13.6
before my first salang on stage
09:17.6
Winwin was the host of the pageant.
09:19.6
So she was gonna go out first
09:21.6
before I come out.
09:23.6
And then I was so nervous.
09:25.6
And I couldn't see because I had contacts on.
09:27.6
And she was like, trust me, take it off.
09:29.6
So tinanggal mo yun?
09:31.6
Tinanggal ko yung contacts ko like 10 seconds before I had to walk on stage.
09:35.6
legally blind on my right eye.
09:37.6
So when you put grade-less
09:39.6
grade-less contacts, everything gets really blurry.
09:43.6
the most important thing is that
09:45.6
you know where to stop, you can see everything that's going on,
09:47.6
just take it off.
09:49.6
So you started officially competing for Bukons in 2019.
09:51.6
So very recent lang.
09:53.6
Do you think, late ka na nag-start mag-compete?
09:59.6
Years before I joined Miss World,
10:01.6
years before I joined my first pageant,
10:03.6
I already had that mindset that
10:05.6
okay, I'm gonna join eventually.
10:07.6
Then I kept backing out year after year after year.
10:09.6
Because I felt like I wasn't ready.
10:11.6
I wanted to give myself justice,
10:13.6
the family justice, because of the pressure
10:15.6
that was on my shoulders being the
10:17.6
daughter of Melanie Marquez.
10:19.6
So I really had to take into account
10:21.6
how prepared I felt
10:23.6
personally in that phase of my life.
10:25.6
Little do people know, I thought I would be
10:27.6
one and done. And then,
10:29.6
the pandemic hit.
10:31.6
And got hashtag quarantined.
10:37.6
the things that I wanted
10:39.6
to do, use the platform for all of the
10:45.6
So it was really just, the whole
10:47.6
opportunity just stopped. Imagine
10:49.6
waiting four years
10:51.6
to be prepared mentally and physically
10:53.6
and then coming back
10:55.6
from London and then the world just stopped.
10:57.6
So I really had to give myself
10:59.6
justice, the platform justice,
11:01.6
my advocacy's justice, and try again.
11:03.6
Do you think you're over-competitive?
11:05.6
Oh, definitely. Yes. Yes na yes.
11:09.6
na meron talagang ugly side
11:11.6
ang duty contests?
11:13.6
Is there a side that there is
11:17.6
in terms of like, decision
11:23.6
in a sense that it is very
11:25.6
objective. Ultimately,
11:27.6
that's the reason why you have judges.
11:29.6
It's because it's up to the judges
11:31.6
to decide who's going to win.
11:33.6
And it's also up to them to find
11:35.6
who can best represent the brand
11:37.6
that these girls are competing for.
11:39.6
But on a deeper sense,
11:41.6
I feel like it does
11:43.6
have a negative connotation to the
11:45.6
candidate themselves because it subjects
11:47.6
them to a lot of insecurities.
11:49.6
All of, not everyone
11:51.6
can handle bashers the way I do.
11:53.6
So it really gets to their head.
11:55.6
And to subject yourself
11:57.6
to that kind of vulnerability
11:59.6
on stage takes a lot of courage.
12:01.6
So everyone that joins pageants,
12:03.6
whether national or local,
12:05.6
I really commend them for it because it's such a
12:07.6
brave step to do that. Exactly, me too.
12:09.6
Parang I don't think I can ever do what you do.
12:11.6
Thank you. Yeah, it's something
12:13.6
really, I'm sure, challenging.
12:15.6
So, yes, pageantry will
12:17.6
always have some sort of a negative
12:19.6
image, especially if a lot of people don't
12:21.6
agree with the winner. At the end of the
12:23.6
day, as long as you're sure of who you are,
12:25.6
of how you performed,
12:27.6
then you shouldn't be swayed naman.
12:29.6
What do you like the most
12:31.6
about the pageant? And
12:33.6
what do you dislike the most about being
12:35.6
in the competition? Okay, what
12:37.6
I love the most about pageantry,
12:39.6
especially here in the Philippines, is
12:41.6
it's an amazing platform. So I've been trying to
12:43.6
build a platform my whole life that's
12:45.6
heard, listened to.
12:47.6
Undoubtedly, Miss Universe has
12:49.6
one of the biggest platforms here.
12:51.6
So I love that now that I'm
12:53.6
a winner, I can get so much
12:55.6
done. But what I hate the most
12:57.6
after every coronation
12:59.6
night, you'll see fans just at war
13:01.6
with each other, trying to find
13:03.6
the most hateful things and hurtful
13:05.6
things to say about the next
13:07.6
candidate or the runner-up or the winner.
13:09.6
And that's probably
13:11.6
what I hate the most about
13:13.6
this industry. But have
13:15.6
you ever been sabotaged during
13:19.6
Yeah! Once lang, during my first
13:21.6
inter- yes, yes. During my
13:23.6
first international
13:25.6
competition. How?
13:27.6
Yeah. I was so careful
13:29.6
with especially my final gowns
13:31.6
and especially my natkos.
13:33.6
They lived in separate luggages
13:35.6
locked until I needed to wear them.
13:37.6
During our natkos rehearsals,
13:39.6
I was wearing a beautiful, beautiful
13:41.6
piece by Francis Libere. National costume
13:43.6
for you. Yes, national costume.
13:49.6
I think a group photo or something. So I
13:51.6
had to put my fans down. When I
13:53.6
went back, nawawala.
13:55.6
Asa nawawala yung fans ko.
13:57.6
And I was just like,
13:59.6
oh my God, what am I gonna do?
14:01.6
So I was texting Francis'
14:03.6
team. I was like, somebody got my fans.
14:05.6
So they were ready to produce another set.
14:07.6
But thankfully, and this is why I love Pinoys
14:09.6
all over the world, that hotel had
14:11.6
so many Pinoys. And then I was like,
14:13.6
my fans are missing.
14:15.6
So they looked through all
14:17.6
of the CCTVs, whoever
14:19.6
got it. Hindi nila sinabi ko sino.
14:21.6
Basta may kumatok that same night.
14:23.6
And then my fans were on the floor.
14:25.6
And maybe kinabahan.
14:27.6
Maybe kinabahan because
14:29.6
I was like, I need to see the
14:31.6
CCTVs. I need to see where my fans
14:33.6
are. So binalik naman.
14:35.6
Nakakaloka yun. Parang mga
14:37.6
napapanad mo sa teleserye. Yeah, that's
14:39.6
why one of the things that
14:41.6
Megan Young actually advised
14:43.6
to me is, if there's something
14:45.6
very, very important, like
14:47.6
for an outfit change, like
14:49.6
a bun extension, bring two.
14:51.6
Bring a backup all the time.
14:53.6
Because it's been done before,
14:55.6
not to me, but it's been done before na people
14:57.6
cut zippers. Unfortunately,
14:59.6
some people choose to do
15:03.6
Napag-usapan na natin yung pagiging
15:05.6
beauty queen mo. Iba naman yung pag-usapan na.
15:07.6
Because you have a lot of different facets.
15:11.6
win last May, you also made it to the
15:13.6
headlines when you officially came out
15:15.6
as bisexual. Did you
15:17.6
feel na parang na-force ka lang
15:21.6
luabas na yung mga photos na kung ano-ano?
15:23.6
They were basically forcing you to
15:25.6
say something. Yes.
15:27.6
But I have to explain that.
15:29.6
Yeah, please, please.
15:31.6
Yes, because it was never
15:33.6
really part of my plan to come out.
15:35.6
I don't feel like
15:37.6
you have to define yourself.
15:39.6
You don't have to justify your sexuality.
15:41.6
It shouldn't define your whole persona.
15:43.6
It's just, okay, I'm into
15:45.6
this man or a woman or whatever.
15:47.6
But the reason why I had to say
15:51.6
during that time,
15:53.6
a lot of my old photos were
15:59.6
with malicious intent.
16:01.6
And kawawa din because there was also another
16:03.6
person in those photos that were also
16:05.6
heavily bashed or whatever
16:07.6
experience she had that she also
16:09.6
felt the need to make a statement.
16:11.6
The reason why I came out was
16:13.6
because I really wanted to take control over the
16:15.6
narrative, take control over my
16:17.6
story. Because if
16:19.6
you do have to come out, then
16:21.6
that should come from you. Then also take
16:23.6
the opportunity to empower
16:25.6
and inspire other people that might be going
16:27.6
through the same thing. Because there's nothing wrong
16:29.6
with how you choose to define your sexuality.
16:31.6
Because you are worth
16:33.6
so much more than
16:35.6
you know, than who you're
16:37.6
into. And that's probably one of the reasons
16:39.6
why God placed you there.
16:41.6
Thank you, thank you.
16:43.6
Ito yung napapansin kung hindi tinatanong sa'yo.
16:45.6
Are you dating someone?
16:57.6
Parang nakita ko sa mata niya.
17:03.6
account for the 3%.
17:05.6
Pinawisan ako dun.
17:07.6
Yung tanong lang na yung nagpapawis sa akin.
17:09.6
Parang dead man lang siya.
17:11.6
Hindi mo lang siya namamaritin?
17:13.6
Mali ata kasi yung question.
17:17.6
Are you with somebody right now?
17:19.6
Ano yung tamang question?
17:21.6
Are you dating people right now?
17:27.6
So now I can change my answer and say
17:29.6
you know, my focus. May liniligawan
17:31.6
ako, it's the 5th crown.
17:35.6
Yan yung liniligawan ko right now.
17:37.6
Trying to make sure that
17:39.6
kung niligay ko sa kanya.
17:41.6
Girl, parang may nakaredy tayong spield ah.
17:43.6
Di ba parang housemates ka yung Larian?
17:49.6
We just reached our half a year mark.
17:51.6
Cute! That must be fun.
17:53.6
So you're friends also with
17:55.6
Kylie, Max, di ba?
17:57.6
But do you get annoyed or bothered
18:01.6
suspect that you're dating them or you're with them?
18:05.6
No. Yan no talaga
18:07.6
because it's no secret that
18:09.6
I'm naturally very sweet.
18:11.6
I love my friends.
18:13.6
And I guess growing up, especially in the
18:15.6
industry, parang I'm so used to being
18:17.6
linked with whoever I'm close
18:19.6
with at that moment. Rin and I,
18:21.6
our duo is called The Remitch.
18:23.6
So even our house, it's called RMHQ.
18:25.6
Remitch Headquarters.
18:27.6
Ang cute nyo naman.
18:29.6
But again, it's not just The Remitch.
18:31.6
When I became close to Cheleste Cortesi,
18:33.6
they created a love team also.
18:35.6
And then of course, I did Mga Lihim ni Orduja
18:37.6
with Kylie Padilla.
18:39.6
And umingay yung love team namin
18:43.6
they had to give us justice at the end of the show.
18:45.6
Parang pinatay na nga ako, binuhay pa ako.
18:47.6
And then my ending scene.
18:49.6
My ending scene was with Kylie
18:51.6
because hashtag forema became such a loud thing.
18:55.6
used to being linked
18:57.6
with other females. Pero yun nga lang,
18:59.6
bakit puro female?
19:01.6
Oo nga, bakit walang guy?
19:03.6
Bakit na-link kahit aninong lalaki?
19:05.6
Kasi hindi ako, parang hindi.
19:07.6
Pero gusto ko malamang, curious ako, kung ano akong showbiz crush?
19:09.6
Parang akong male crush?
19:11.6
I would say C&Lim.
19:15.6
more in a sense that if I were to be paired
19:17.6
with somebody, I would love for it to
19:19.6
be C&Lim, but not in a
19:21.6
I wanna date you kind of sense.
19:23.6
I think it's more of really like,
19:25.6
if I were to be paired with a guy,
19:27.6
syempre it has to be taller than me.
19:29.6
So konti lang yung options ko.
19:31.6
Piyolo Pascual, C&Lim.
19:33.6
Have you ever dated a basketball player before?
19:37.6
Sino? I can't say.
19:41.6
Short-lived though.
19:43.6
That's when I realized that hindi nagsisink
19:47.6
Because ako, I am an actress, I am a beauty queen,
19:49.6
but I'm also very entrepreneurial.
19:51.6
I'm very cerebral, I like numbers,
19:53.6
I like tech, I like being a nerd.
19:55.6
And I guess the people that I have dated
19:57.6
didn't compliment that side of me.
19:59.6
The side of me that's off-camera.
20:01.6
And that's what I needed,
20:03.6
somebody that can help me grow.
20:05.6
And obviously the stability part and all of that.
20:07.6
Hindi ba nai-intimidate yung mga
20:13.6
Because you're very smart, you're very self-assured,
20:15.6
you're very accomplished.
20:17.6
This is why, as per your lie detector test,
20:19.6
I am not dating anyone.
20:21.6
Hindi ako naniniwala.
20:23.6
First time pamalyan.
20:27.6
Because I've dated a variety
20:29.6
of different types of people naman.
20:31.6
And I think it's really just
20:33.6
trying to find the right one.
20:35.6
So as of now, I still don't believe in marriage.
20:37.6
I don't believe in marriage until I find the right one.
20:39.6
Yes, kasi I used to not believe in marriage.
20:41.6
There was a time in my life, na-share ko nga sa vlog nyo na,
20:43.6
hindi ako nainiwala na sa marriage.
20:45.6
But doon dumating si Dom
20:47.6
matinanong niya ako.
20:51.6
It felt like I was doing the right thing.
20:53.6
Pero sinabi mo kanina,
20:55.6
na mahilig kang humawak
20:57.6
ng camera, you're a content creator.
20:59.6
Meron bang possibility
21:01.6
na magiging director ka one day?
21:05.6
What type of film would you do?
21:09.6
Drama or maybe documentaries.
21:11.6
I love traveling.
21:13.6
I love being able to tell a story
21:15.6
and have full control over a narrative.
21:17.6
One of the most important things that anyone
21:19.6
can do for themselves is to
21:21.6
work on their different facets in their life.
21:23.6
Because you just never know what
21:25.6
you'll end up with.
21:27.6
Pero ano yung favorite movie mo?
21:29.6
Parang top of mind?
21:31.6
A Walk to Remember.
21:33.6
Si Hopeless Romantic talaga. A Walk to Remember.
21:35.6
Gabutan mo ba yun?
21:37.6
Parang 13 lang ako nung pinilabas yun.
21:39.6
Fetus ka pa siguro.
21:41.6
I watched it so many times. VHS pa siya.
21:43.6
But yun, A Walk to Remember
21:45.6
and What Dreams May Come.
21:47.6
Iniisip ng mga tao na dahil
21:49.6
galing ka sa maayo sa pamilya,
21:51.6
komportabling pamilya,
21:53.6
that you had a great time
21:55.6
or a comfortable time growing up.
21:57.6
Do you think that's true?
22:01.6
Can you tell us more about it? Like growing up in the States, how was the experience?
22:03.6
I think we can start with
22:05.6
the reason why I even
22:07.6
ended up in the States.
22:09.6
My mom and my dad were going through
22:11.6
a domesticity battle, legal battles, a separation.
22:13.6
That's why my mom wanted to shield us
22:15.6
from all of the press, the media.
22:17.6
But just like any family,
22:19.6
it's not perfect.
22:21.6
My mom was the best representation of
22:23.6
a strong, independent
22:27.6
I have a bond with my stepfather also.
22:29.6
But, you know, families aren't perfect.
22:31.6
Hindi, mahirap din pag-blended family.
22:33.6
There are blended families
22:37.6
but I'm sure there are problems
22:41.6
My sister and I, in a small town in Utah, were the only Asians there.
22:43.6
So it was a very small town.
22:45.6
So in school, we were subject to racism,
22:49.6
It wasn't the most ideal situation
22:53.6
There was a lot of violence also
22:55.6
that was surrounding us, a lot of family
22:57.6
problems. But, you know, I've always
22:59.6
been the type of person that chooses to see
23:01.6
the good, chooses to control
23:03.6
my perspective and how I see
23:05.6
life. And that's something my mom
23:07.6
taught me. That's something that all of my parent
23:09.6
figures taught me. That you can never please everyone.
23:11.6
So it's all about seeing
23:13.6
your self-worth. When nobody else
23:15.6
loves you, you have yourself to love.
23:17.6
As a single person,
23:19.6
as what the lie detector said.
23:23.6
Gusto ko talaga i-comment yung
23:25.6
mommy mo. Kasi I know that
23:29.6
a good person, a good mom.
23:31.6
I love working with her. I love her.
23:33.6
She's one of, I think, this industry's
23:37.6
And I would love to work with her again.
23:39.6
You should. And sana makapag-guest.
23:41.6
Hi, Tita Melanie.
23:43.6
My mom will definitely
23:45.6
see this. You know why? Because my mom
23:47.6
is the one that stalks me.
23:49.6
Tita Melanie, since
23:51.6
mapapanood niyo po ito, please
23:53.6
mag-guest naman kayo. Iniimbitahan po
23:55.6
namin kayo to guest here. Let's go.
23:57.6
You think she'll do it? I think she will. Especially
23:59.6
kasi kinakall out na natin siya.
24:01.6
Pero how was your experience naman moving
24:03.6
here in the Philippines? Was it
24:05.6
hard? How old were you when you moved?
24:11.6
back. And then it was always back and
24:13.6
forth. And I moved back here permanently
24:15.6
with my father's side at
24:17.6
15. During that time, kasi
24:19.6
like, my sister and I,
24:21.6
we would study all year round.
24:23.6
Kasi the summers were
24:25.6
different for the schools.
24:27.6
So, when it's winter there, our business
24:29.6
in Utah is agriculture.
24:31.6
So, when it's winter there, we stay here.
24:33.6
And then I'd be studying here also. Pero
24:35.6
marunong ka rin ba na gumawa ng mga
24:37.6
farm tasks? Yeah!
24:39.6
It was part of my chores.
24:41.6
So, I really had to work for my
24:43.6
allowance. Parang hindi ka ma-imagine pang ganda-ganda
24:45.6
niya. Batalong ako ah.
24:47.6
Kami kasi pag nasa pharmacy, dugyut talaga
24:49.6
kami. Dugyut ako! Mahilit.
24:51.6
Sometimes I'd go straight from my
24:53.6
chores to school. So, I really
24:55.6
had to work for my lunch money.
24:57.6
Yeah, from like, shoveling
24:59.6
the horse poo, or
25:01.6
feeding the dogs, or like, I would
25:03.6
drive the tractors also when I was
25:05.6
like, older. It was fun naman.
25:07.6
You know, I feel like I credit my adrenaline
25:09.6
side to my history
25:11.6
in the ranch. At saka you being
25:13.6
a hard worker too. And then
25:15.6
pagbalik mo dito, culture shocking
25:17.6
yaya. Hindi ako sanay na may yaya. Yan pa,
25:19.6
yaya! So, hindi ka sanay na naguutos?
25:21.6
No, hindi ako sanay na naguutos.
25:23.6
Ako, nagkaroon din ako ng unang
25:25.6
assistant. Hindi ako sanay na inutusan siya.
25:27.6
Kasi parang hindi kami sanay na naguutos.
25:29.6
I think the biggest
25:31.6
adjustment for me was when I'm in the States,
25:33.6
I'm so used to just walking out of my house
25:35.6
going wherever I wanna go. Even as
25:37.6
a little girl. Like, I can walk half
25:39.6
a mile, visit my friend, and not worry.
25:41.6
I think there was one kidnap
25:43.6
scare that happened before.
25:45.6
Because I just left the house, and I wanted to
25:47.6
go to the park. And hindi nila
25:49.6
humahanap, so nagpa-panic. Oh my God!
25:51.6
So nag-panic sila. So after a few hours, I just walked
25:53.6
back to the condo, and they were just like,
25:55.6
San gagaling?! Oh my God,
25:57.6
nag-galit. Hindi naman.
25:59.6
They were just more relaxed. Parang mag-galit si
26:00.6
Nita Melanie? Parang kasi hindi siya nagagalit.
26:02.6
Feeling kong nag-galit siya,
26:04.6
nakakatawa pa din siya.
26:06.6
Uy, hindi. When my mom is mad,
26:08.6
nawawala yung melanisms.
26:10.6
She speaks straight English to the core.
26:14.6
Ano yung pinaka-natatandaan mo niya?
26:16.6
I think when I was
26:18.6
around 12, maybe?
26:20.6
So I think my mom was mad about something that I
26:22.6
don't even remember anymore, but
26:24.6
kinorner niya talaga ako sa room, and she was
26:26.6
really telling me off. And then,
26:28.6
she's so mad, and I was just staring at
26:30.6
her eyes. I don't know if it was
26:32.6
borderline. Hindi naman death stare,
26:34.6
pero like, yung galit ka din eh,
26:36.6
pero ayaw mo lang magsalita. You're biting your
26:38.6
tongue. I think that was the first time that my mom
26:40.6
actually slapped me.
26:42.6
Oh my God! I'm sure she
26:44.6
said, she cried after and said
26:46.6
sorry. Oh, you know. Kasi siya mama ganoon,
26:48.6
kapag nasasaktan niya ako nung bata ako,
26:50.6
siya yung umiiyak.
26:52.6
Yeah, so, you know, my mom, she's the
26:54.6
biggest sweetheart, and she loves her kids.
26:58.6
have done something wrong, talaga, for her
27:00.6
to get that mad at me.
27:02.6
I don't know, but I was very madiskarte
27:04.6
even when I was young. I know what
27:06.6
would tick off my stepdad
27:08.6
or my mom. So, madiskarte lang
27:10.6
ako, never ako nakuhuli.
27:12.6
Marami akong nagawa nung bata ako na never
27:14.6
lang ako nakuhuli. Ang galing nga.
27:16.6
My mom's really my lucky charm.
27:18.6
Because she wasn't able to watch last year,
27:20.6
I lost last year. She watched this year,
27:22.6
I won this year. Oh, is she watching this year?
27:24.6
Yeah, she has. I was like, mam, mawala na lahat,
27:28.6
So, punta naman tayo ngayon
27:30.6
sa zodiac sign mo.
27:32.6
Taurus, you're a taurus. Yes, I love being
27:34.6
a taurus. Yung taurus daw,
27:36.6
is an earth sign represented by
27:38.6
the bull. And like a bull,
27:40.6
they tend to be tenacious.
27:42.6
Kaya usually, yung impression sa kanila,
27:44.6
stubborn. Stubborn ka ba?
27:50.6
I guess I'm stubborn in a way that
27:52.6
I stand by my decisions
27:54.6
so much that even if
27:56.6
people try to sway me otherwise,
27:58.6
then I will still stick to what I believe
28:00.6
is best for me. But I
28:02.6
don't believe in stepping on anyone's
28:04.6
toes as long as I do it in the most
28:06.6
respectful way, as long as I don't
28:08.6
have bad intentions, as long as
28:10.6
I'm also just looking out
28:12.6
for what I believe is best for my
28:14.6
competition, best for myself, and this goes for
28:16.6
everything in my life.
28:18.6
Pero sabi nila ang taurus daw,
28:22.6
Do you think you're sensual? Oh, very.
28:26.6
Touch is one of my language of love also.
28:28.6
Like that's why I can never do
28:32.6
I feel like that physical
28:34.6
companionship or touch, pero
28:36.6
kailangan mo yun eh. I mean,
28:38.6
when I'm not in a relationship, I don't need it.
28:40.6
But when I commit to somebody,
28:42.6
then that's something that I crave for
28:44.6
for sure. Pero curious
28:46.6
din ako, sa babaeng
28:48.6
kasing ganda mo, kasing tali mo,
28:50.6
have you ever been dumped?
28:52.6
No. But I've been
28:54.6
cheated on. Have you ever
28:56.6
ghosted somebody? Yes.
29:00.6
Have you ever cheated
29:06.6
If there's something
29:08.6
about me, I value
29:10.6
the relationships I have and I
29:12.6
don't want them to feel
29:14.6
discarded. Do you think beauty queens
29:16.6
are made and not born?
29:18.6
Yes. I just believe
29:20.6
everyone can, in their
29:22.6
own way, become a beauty queen also because
29:24.6
what is a beauty queen? It's somebody
29:26.6
that advocates for what they believe
29:28.6
in, somebody that tries to be influential
29:30.6
in the best way possible. You don't have to be
29:32.6
influential in a sense that you have to talk
29:34.6
to a whole country, but you can
29:36.6
just influence the people around you to be better.
29:38.6
So I think, innate,
29:40.6
everybody has the quality
29:42.6
to become one, but you have to tap
29:44.6
into that if you really want
29:48.6
or to be Miss Universe.
29:50.6
But in its essence,
29:52.6
we're all beauty queens.
29:54.6
Potentially. We're all beauty queens.
29:58.6
a way to practice that?
30:00.6
I keep my hands straight.
30:02.6
It's like this. You look longer.
30:08.6
When I have fans, I do this.
30:10.6
And it's also more
30:14.6
personal opinion. This is a bit
30:16.6
lacking, but when you're waving
30:18.6
to a whole crowd,
30:20.6
it's like, hello! To further
30:22.6
deepen my answer also,
30:26.6
up wanting to be a
30:28.6
beauty queen because I did see
30:30.6
pageantry as superficial
30:32.6
growing up. But when I realized
30:34.6
the good that you can do with the platform,
30:36.6
the reason I joined my
30:38.6
first pageant was because of the whole advocacy
30:40.6
aspect. And then,
30:42.6
you can always be made to
30:44.6
perform also. All of that is
30:46.6
trained for, and it really takes a lot of dedication
30:48.6
and work. It's amazing. I have so much
30:50.6
respect for you guys. It's a sport.
30:52.6
It is a sport. Do you think the
30:54.6
universe will be on your side
30:56.6
when you compete at El Salvador for
30:58.6
Miss Universe 2023?
31:02.6
Yes! Just claim it!
31:06.6
was on my side also.
31:08.6
But for my final question,
31:12.6
in this interview and polygraph test
31:16.6
and didn't pass the polygraph test?
31:26.6
She's so confident.
31:28.6
I can't believe it.
31:30.6
It's like Michelle
31:34.6
At some point, Buyea Bonso
31:36.6
doesn't answer anymore.
31:38.6
No, I think this was really fun because
31:40.6
it also just forces you to be honest with
31:42.6
yourself and the realities that you have.
31:44.6
Because when you're in the industry,
31:46.6
you're so used to giving showbiz answers.
31:48.6
If every press person
31:50.6
had a lie detector,
31:52.6
the results would be amazing.
31:54.6
What do you think is good about Black Mirror?
31:56.6
Everyone has a lie detector.
32:00.6
Would you ever have your friends do this?
32:04.6
Who would you vote?
32:06.6
I would nominate Rian Ramos.
32:10.6
She nominated Rian Ramos.
32:12.6
Our show is open for Rian Ramos.
32:16.6
Thank you so much for doing this.
32:18.6
Is there anything that you want to promote?
32:20.6
So obviously, my competition
32:22.6
is two months away. I think 80 days
32:24.6
to be exact. So I just want
32:26.6
everyone to just please continue supporting
32:28.6
me. There's so much left
32:30.6
to be said, so much left to be done but
32:32.6
I do this all for you guys and
32:34.6
I'm so excited to see what destiny
32:36.6
has in store for me. So once again,
32:38.6
just thank you for all of your love, your support
32:40.6
and I'll see you guys next time.
32:42.6
Good luck! We are all
32:44.6
behind you. We're all rooting for you.
32:46.6
We hope you win. Thank you so much again for doing this.
32:50.6
Please don't forget to check out my
32:52.6
vlog also with Bea.
32:54.6
We did the last challenge so
32:56.6
watch out for that as well.
32:58.6
Thank you so much and I also would like to thank
33:00.6
iSpy Detectives and Investigators for conducting
