Has AI Subtitles
* AI ("Artificial Intelligence") subtitles on Tagalog.com are generated using "Whisper" by OpenAI (the same company that created ChatGPT and DallE2). Results and accuracy may vary.
* The subtitles do include errors occasionally and should only be used as a tool to help with your listening practice.
* You can request this website to create a transcript for a video if one doesn't already exist by clicking the "Request AI Subtitles" button below a video. Transcribing usually takes 30-40% of the length of a video to complete if there are no other videos in
the queue. For example, a 21 minute video will take 7-8 minutes to transcribe.
* Running a super fast cloud GPU server to do these transcriptions does cost money. If you have the desire and financial ability, consider
becoming a patron
to support these video transcriptions, and the other tools and apps built by Tagalog.com

As we can see in all the world, weather events are, as has been predicted, getting more extreme,
00:06.5
such as torrential rains that instantly shift to scorching heat waves, or vice versa.
00:12.6
Our country's geographical location makes us highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
00:19.1
Precisely because of our inherent vulnerability,
00:22.1
we are proactive advocates for heightened climate responsibility and justice on the global stage.
00:28.5
To this end, we have secured a seat on the Board of the Loss and Damage Fund.
00:35.2
And further, the Philippines has also been selected as host country to that fund.
00:44.4
This will require an enabling law from Congress to confer the legal personality and capacity to the Board.
00:52.8
This welcome development shall complement all our other climate adaptation and mitigation measures,
00:57.5
and we will continue to do so.
00:58.5
And give us a strong voice to access the needed financial assistance for climate-related initiatives and impacts.
01:06.6
At the same time, the most important thing is that the whole country is strong and always ready for the coming of the pandemic.
01:15.3
Our DRRM workers are the first to ensure our broad preparation and our readiness at any time.
01:26.3
As the first to prepare,
01:29.0
we are building important infrastructure that will serve as the protection and center of coordination,
01:36.5
especially in the aspect of helping.
01:39.9
Within the past two years, almost a hundred evacuation centers have already been built.
01:46.9
While in January of this year, we started the operations of our Disaster Response Command Center,
01:53.2
which shall serve as a central hub for the government's disaster response efforts.
01:58.5
Now, with the passage of time,
02:13.6
flood control project has been completed and many others are currently being done throughout the country.
02:18.6
One of them is the Flood Risk Management Project in the Cagayan de Oro River,
02:28.5
which will provide long-term protection to more than 600 hectares of land and 60,000 of our fellow countrymen.
02:37.2
Another project is the Pampanga Bay project, which will serve as an additional flood protection for the flood victims.
02:46.6
In January of this year, we launched a clean-up project in the New Philippines,
02:52.5
where we evacuated our barangays to clean up their communities,
02:55.6
and also to clean up the flood-prone areas of the country.
02:57.7
In the last five months,
02:59.7
more than 40,000 tons of garbage were collected by more than 22,000 barangays throughout the country.
03:10.5
I hope that the local governments will continue to support the clean-up of our communities.
