So, I'm from Drag Race Philippines Season 1, and now I'm competing for RuPaul's Drag Race Global All-Stars, and representing the Philippines.
00:22.0
Who knew? Who knew? Like, because RuPaul's Drag Race is like a cultural reset from all over the world, and people didn't really know that there's a huge drag scene in the Philippines until Drag Race Philippines happened, and now we already have a mark in the world, in the drag world, that people go to the Philippines now and see amazing talent, drag talent, and now it's being showcased.
00:52.0
What does it mean to be able to represent here at DragCon? It's the biggest drag race convention, and mga ang my work notice, like, Philippine flags, like, oh my god, it is, the table of the queen. What does it mean to represent not just the drag community, but also your country?
01:10.7
It's, um, it's huge. Because, you know, alam mo naman tayo mga Pilipinas, it's like, yeah, honestly, I feel like a Manny Pacquiao or a Catrio de Grey of drag.
01:21.1
You know, we are always...
01:22.0
It's big when it comes to seeing akababayan do so well on an international scale, and for us here, not just for myself, I can speak for my sisters as well, it's big to be here and to hear the stories ng mga hindi-Pilipino that are fans of Drag Race Philippines.
01:42.5
Imagine, hindi naman sila, hindi naman nila naiintindihan yung language natin when they watch Drag Race Philippines, but they love Filipino drag, they love the Filipino culture.
01:52.0
They love our queens, they love our humor, they appreciate our style, our beauty, our talent, and talagang world-class pala tayong mga Pilipino.
02:01.3
It's like, the first time I went to DragCon, Ang Jaina and Jiggly Caliente lang.
02:07.2
There was no Drag Race Philippines here.
02:11.0
We have at least 24 Filipina contestants.
02:15.7
Plus whoever, like, Manila Guzon or sino-sino sa ibang franchise.
02:21.6
What's it like to see all of your Filipina sisters in different parts of the world?
02:26.8
Yes, and actually, it just proves our point that for the longest time, you know, Filipino queens are so talented, so beautiful.
02:34.2
Ang pinakaiba lang natin sa ibang Western counterparts is exposure and visibility.
02:39.6
And that's what Drag Race Philippines is, and that's what UK versus the world that Marina did, and now I'm doing for Global All-Stars, is showing that there's so much talent.
02:51.7
And, ah, ahm, potential sa Drag Queens natin sa Pilipinas.
02:56.2
It's just a matter of hat them, having the chance to represent
03:04.5
and show it to the world.
03:16.5
Anong mensayan mo for our Filipinos that are now eagerly waiting for Global.
03:16.6
We'll let them know what.
03:18.0
Where would you like to say to everyone that are watching?
03:18.3
Well, first we would like to thank all of the drag fans.
03:19.3
We wanted to thank so many fans that are here.
03:21.6
in the Philippines, you know, none of this
03:24.5
would have been possible if not
03:26.3
for your unwavering support to your
03:28.5
local queens, to your drag queens
03:30.5
in the Philippines
03:32.4
I know that Philippines is still a long way
03:34.4
when it comes to, you know, LGBTQIA
03:36.9
rights, our equality rights
03:38.7
and what not, but you guys saw
03:41.6
and it was because of your support that we are
03:44.4
now able to dream bigger
03:46.5
and do more with our art form
03:48.4
and representing ourselves to the world
03:52.5
will be representing Philippines to
03:54.3
global all-stars, I hope I
03:56.5
