08:30.0
Pero kaya naman yung birthday mo, Joshua?
08:32.8
Birthday ko, near the end of the month, August 27.
08:36.4
Oh, in fairness, magkasunod tayo ng birthday.
08:42.5
In fairness, we're vibing for today's video.
08:45.0
Hindi ka alone ngayong August.
08:47.4
For what love, you are not alone.
08:50.0
Thank you, Joshua. It's nice to see you here.
08:52.7
And thank you rin for taking the time for being morning person for our show today.
08:58.7
And of course, you're one of the artists to watch out for, lalo na ngayong 2024.
09:03.5
So, can you tell us more about yourself and your music?
09:06.0
Kasi I'm sure gusto ko makilala ng ating mga kamorgatas watching.
09:09.0
So, go ahead, Joshua.
09:10.1
Okay. So, my name is Joshua, as mentioned before.
09:15.4
And I like to write music about stuff from the heart, stuff that's more introspective.
09:21.3
I like to write about personal experiences, day-to-day things.
09:26.4
Actually, yung last EP ko,
09:28.7
wala masyadong love songs, heartbreak songs.
09:31.4
It's more of, you know, just yung relatable day-to-day things.
09:34.6
You know, feeling alone.
09:35.6
Baka, you know, for some people, you know, feeling inadequate, feeling self-doubt.
09:41.1
And the songs I write, I want to be able to uplift those people who are feeling, you know, those self-doubts.
09:49.1
Especially at this age, I'm coming into my quarter-life crisis.
09:53.6
So, malapit na ako mag-25, you know, for reform the frontal lobe.
09:58.7
And, you know, with that, syempre, comes a lot of insecurity, comes a lot of uncertainty.
10:03.1
And I just want to help those people who are going through the same experience as me.
10:09.6
Yeah, yung quarter-life crisis.
10:11.1
It's a big problem for me.
10:13.5
Ano ba? Ano ba? Parang nagkakaroon ka na ng quarter-life crisis.
10:18.2
Kami lang papunta lang sa mid-life crisis.
10:20.9
Yeah. Tama, Joshua. Pupunta lang kami nun, eh.
10:23.9
Parang, yung sinayong mo ngayon, Joshua, parang nalala ko, there was a time na okay.
10:28.7
We're mid-life na kami ngayon, eh. So, anyway.
10:31.6
Good talaga, alive, mga kamarkada.
10:33.5
Pero yun nga, pinapatamaan mo kami for today's video.
10:36.0
Kasi yun nga, parang alone.
10:36.9
Baka kayong 20 years old.
10:38.2
Baka kayong 20 years old.
10:41.0
Kaya, mas ako pang-evento.
10:42.5
Yeah, mga 20 years old talaga kami.
10:44.5
So, pinapatamaan mo kami sa kanta mo, Alone in Melbourne.
10:48.8
Kasi yun nga, hindi pa namin naka-experience mapunta sa Melbourne.
10:51.8
Pero, na-experience namin maging alone.
10:54.3
So, kwentuhan mo naman kami about your single, The Alone in Melbourne, Joshua.
11:00.0
So, when I talked about Alone in Melbourne, I realized na, you know,
11:07.1
syempre, not everyone can relate to that.
11:09.1
But I think a lot of people can relate to the feeling of being alone.
11:12.5
Especially, you know, if you come from the province and you come to Manila to study.
11:18.6
Or if you're like an OFW and people go to Hong Kong, go to Dubai, things like that.
11:25.1
And it's just a reminder.
11:28.7
I guess that, at least for me, the people in my life are always going to be the most important.
11:34.7
Like, you know, regardless of if I get a new job, if I, you know, if I get these new opportunities,
11:40.6
the most important thing for me are my family, you know, my friends.
11:45.0
And, you know, kahit saan man ako, I'm always going to look for them and come back to them.
11:50.0
So, for anyone feeling homesick, I think the song is for you.
11:55.5
Actually, funny thing.
11:56.9
I realized I was singing Alone in Melbourne in the song.
12:00.3
And I was talking to my co-workers and everyone says Alone in Melbourne.
12:04.1
Like, Melbourne, somehow.
12:06.6
So, now when I sing it, I say Alone in Melbourne.
12:09.9
Feeling Australian, di ba?
12:11.9
Oh, may accent pa ka, Marcana.
12:14.1
And what's even better kasi, Joshua, kasi being alone is not only parang nafe-feel mo when you're outside of the country,
12:21.3
but even in your own house.
12:23.9
Even in your environment, di ba?
12:26.9
Kaya nakaka-relate kami dito sa kwento mong ito at the story na Alone in Melbourne.
12:32.4
So, ikaw naman, personally, what lessons did you learn naman, Joshua, being alone in Melbourne when you were there?
12:41.5
Kasi parang this is based on your actual experience, di ba?
12:44.1
Paano ka nabot sa Melbourne in the first place?
12:47.6
Well, one thing I learned is klingy pala ako.
12:50.4
I did not realize, pero ganyan pala ako.
12:54.0
And as a funny...
12:56.9
A funny thing I learned in Melbourne, how to cook.
12:59.4
So, if you guys want the chop suey or if you want some lamb chops or something,
13:06.4
I now know because of Melbourne.
13:09.4
So, Shalto, may palam chops at chop suey, mga kabarang.
13:12.0
Pero ano, muna-muna sa tunan doon, what's the first food that you learned to cook when you were there?
13:17.7
I don't know, but the first thing I made, my friends will get mad at me.
13:20.5
I'm saying this on the live.
13:23.2
But I made fried rice.
13:25.1
Like a rice cooker fried rice.
13:26.9
Pero ginamit ko bagong rice and I didn't realize when you use, when you use new rice, it becomes super soggy and mushy.
13:36.4
So, yun, yun yung first meal ko.
13:38.9
O, Iferia, sabi, cooking tips tayo for today's video, mga kabarkada.
13:43.9
At least hindi kayo alone ngayon sa inyong breakfast, mga kabarkada.
13:46.9
Pero may talk about alone in Melbourne, di ba?
13:48.9
Parang, paano ka umabot doon sa Melbourne in the first place, Joshua, to be inspired to write this song in the first place?
13:56.4
So, the backstory for that is I'm not actually a musician full time.
14:01.4
I'm a software engineer.
14:03.4
So, I went to ComSci in UPD and I was hired by an Australian company.
14:10.4
So, we do an AI search engine.
14:13.4
So, there's a lot of stuff to get into for that.
14:16.4
So, but just imagine it's AI and it's tech.
14:19.4
And they've been thinking of, you know, they, syempre, they want me to come see the office, come meet everyone.
14:25.4
And I went for a month just to feel the work culture and everything.
14:31.4
And, yeah, when I was there, I felt that strong sense of longing for home and longing for the people that I left behind.
14:44.4
In fairness, pag AI, nag-uusapan natin mga kabarkada and everything, bong.
14:48.4
Lumalaban tayo sa technology.
14:50.4
At saka, di ba, at least nalaman natin it was for work visit na pumunta doon si Joshua.
14:54.4
But when you were there, Joshua, kasi ah, di ba, minsan nagkakaroon natin tayo once we go to a different place, a foreign place.
15:00.4
Nagkakaroon tayong CEPACs, di ba?
15:02.4
Doon natin na-realize yan eh.
15:04.4
What lesson did you learn being alone in Melbourne when you were there for work?
15:08.4
I think I realized how important spending time with friends was for me.
15:15.4
Actually, when I got there, I went out.
15:19.4
I went out immediately.
15:20.4
Tapos, I met a new barkada, Filipinos rin.
15:24.4
So, I guess we find each other talaga.
15:27.4
Like, I went out and I was like, oh, where do Asian people usually hang out dito sa Melbourne?
15:33.4
I went out, tapos nag-party ako.
15:35.4
And I found another group of Filipinos.
15:39.4
So, yeah, I don't think I could survive the trip without them, you know?
15:45.4
So, shout out to them.
15:49.4
Alam mo, Joshua, you're everywhere.
15:50.4
Alam mo ito tayo mga Pilipino.
15:51.4
Pati sa Antarctica.
15:52.4
Mauuna na nga tayo sa Mars.
15:53.4
Mauuna na nga tayo sa Mars, mga kamurka, sa Venus.
15:56.4
Lumalaban ang mga Pinoy diyan.
15:58.4
Pero usually, marami tayong mga kamurka sa nanonood ngayon, Joshua.
16:02.4
Not only here in the Philippines but also in the other parts of the country, mga of the world.
16:07.4
Marami tayong mga OFWs nanonood ngayon.
16:09.4
At parang feeling nila, minsan alone sila sa mga different countries na where they are now.
16:16.4
How did you deal and combat the feeling of loneliness when you were there sa Melbourne in a foreign country, Joshua?
16:23.4
Well, one thing I do is I'd call with the people at home.
16:28.4
You know, mga Discord calls, Facebook calls.
16:31.4
You just keep updated with everyone.
16:33.4
I mean, you have to.
16:35.4
And I think, during pandemic naman, we had the same issue, right?
16:38.4
We couldn't see each other.
16:40.4
So, you know, Discord calls were very, very helpful.
16:42.4
Siyempre, writing.
16:44.4
I actually asked my coworker if I could borrow his guitar.
16:48.4
And just alone in my hotel room, just writing.
16:50.4
And that's what I came up with.
16:52.4
Parang ang drama ko talaga.
16:54.4
I was there for a short amount of time.
16:56.4
Tapos nagdadrama ako.
16:58.4
More of creative.
16:59.4
Kasi minsan mga artistic and creative, you do that eh.
17:02.4
Mga you daydream, you think of things.
17:06.4
Parang eksena lang sa peliko na Joshua.
17:10.4
And don't get me wrong, I felt very lucky.
17:14.4
I'm very blessed to be there.
17:16.4
It's just a moment of, you know, it's just writing how I feel.
17:20.4
Like, I think if I had to do it again, I would do it again, of course.
17:24.4
And it's an amazing experience.
17:26.4
But, you know, in that moment, I felt like a sad boy.
17:29.4
You know, looking out the window.
17:31.4
You know, in my feelings, ganun.
17:33.4
At saka, ang maganda dito sa Alone in Melbourne, Joshua,
17:38.4
nare-realize natin na being alone is not always a negative thing.
17:42.4
But it's also a positive thing for self-discovery, self-love, and appreciation sa mga bagay na meron tayo.
17:51.4
So, any advice sa ating mga kamarkada sa Joshua na siyempre nakifeel nila alone sila ngayong araw na ito?
17:58.4
Yeah, I think being able to be alone with your thoughts is actually a blessing as much as it is a curse.
18:05.4
And it's being able to make friends with yourself and, you know, without any outside noise is a huge thing.
18:13.4
It'll improve your life a lot going forward.
18:17.4
And, yeah, another thing is that
18:19.4
even if you're not with the people that you love in person,
18:22.4
you know, there are people that care about you, that are watching over you from afar.
18:27.4
And I'm sure if you need to reach out to them, you could reach out to them and they would respond to you.
18:33.4
And it's just, I guess, just a matter of perspective, you know,
18:37.4
of realizing that, you know, everyone's going through their own journey and their own struggle.
18:42.4
And, you know, somehow feel that you're never alone, even if physically you are, you know,
18:48.4
like you have your friends or like we're all Filipinos, you know,
18:51.4
and same way that I found my people over there.
18:55.4
You always, you know, I feel like you can always find your people if you look in the right places.
19:01.4
It's nice to hear, diba? Kasi minsan di natin realize.
19:04.4
Alam mo yun, kailangan natin mga ganitong mga realizations to parang maramdaman mo ulit na oo nga, diba?
19:11.4
May point naman yung sinabi ni Joshua.
19:13.4
Pero eto na, let's talk about going back more about Alone in Melbourne.
19:16.4
Kasi nga dito, it's part of the story.
19:18.4
It's part of an EP.
19:19.4
So it's also the same title.
19:21.4
Can you tell us more about your EP, Joshua, Alone in Melbourne?
19:24.4
About the whole process of making this.
19:29.4
Yeah, so the process was very spontaneous.
19:32.4
I think each song, you know, it came to me one by one.
19:36.4
But as I mentioned kanina, there's a big theme of uncertainty, insecurity.
19:42.4
And I think it just came very naturally as I graduated through college.
19:46.4
And I just wrote things down.
19:48.4
So yun, one song is called Breeze.
19:52.4
And it's literally a song I wrote super fast.
19:55.4
And it's just letting yourself take a break every once in a while.
19:59.4
Parang feel the breeze gonna sit outside.
20:01.4
Let it hit your face.
20:02.4
No matter, you know, I think even if you're drowning in school requirements and work,
20:07.4
parang you need those five minutes to just relax.
20:10.4
And yun, there are actually a lot of collabs on the EP as well.
20:14.4
So I collabed with Des and Del,
20:17.4
who is their twin sisters and they're amazing, amazing artists.
20:22.4
And they sang with me on Breeze Amihan,
20:25.4
which is a version of Breeze with the blending of the vocals.
20:29.4
And I think it sounds amazing.
20:31.4
And also for the song Alone in Melbourne,
20:33.4
I collabed with Eda Simafranca.
20:36.4
And I just want to give a second to shout out to Eda.
20:41.4
She was an amazing artist and she really is someone I felt a lot of kinship with.
20:46.4
And she felt a lot of similar things.
20:49.4
I felt like, you know, feeling of loneliness, feeling of, you know, baka feeling like you're not enough.
20:54.4
And unfortunately, she passed away after recording the vocals for the song.
21:01.4
But, you know, I was so glad to have met her and I just, you know, want to remember her memory.
21:08.4
So if you guys like jazz music or like really soulful music, try to look for Eda Simafranca as well.
21:16.4
So maganda yan, Joshua.
21:19.4
Kasi mamaya, iimbitahan natin ang ating mga kamorkadas paano masuportahan itong Alone in Melbourne,
21:24.4
lalo na lalo na the EP itself, Joshua.
21:27.4
Kasi marami kang makakasama ng mga artist dito.
21:30.4
But, syempre, meron tayong challenge for you today.
21:34.4
Papahirapan ka muna namin for today's video, Char.
21:38.4
Mas mahirap ito sa iyong stay doon sa Melbourne.
21:41.4
Kasi meron tayong Alone in Manila challenge, mga kamorkada.
21:45.4
And Alone in the Philippines challenge.
21:47.4
Kasi nasa Pilipinas na tayo.
21:49.4
Meron taming challenge for you, Joshua.
21:51.4
Meron kami mga series of questions for you na nagbabada at umaatikabo.
21:56.4
Na lalaban ang iyong, mapapalaban yung puso at isip.
21:59.4
Kaya Joshua Kim, are you ready for our Alone in the Philippines challenge?
22:04.4
Ready. Very ready.
22:06.4
And speaking Joshua, napalaban ka rin sa photo na ito, ha?
22:09.4
So, you're quite the...
22:13.4
Drama ka rin sa photo.
22:14.4
Maka rin siya po sa photo na ito, ha?
22:16.4
So, what's the story behind this photo muna, Joshua, before we go to the challenge?
22:20.4
Wala. Candid. Nakuha ng paparazzi.
22:23.4
Joke lang. Joke lang. Wala. Wala. Wala.
22:25.4
Talagang ganyan kaganda pag nakukuha ng caught out of the moment.
22:30.4
As if. Hindi naman. Hindi naman.
22:32.4
Did you enjoy this process of taking it out during the shoot of this?
22:36.4
Yeah. So, the shoot was done by Andy Pavia and Migs Tar.
22:42.4
And we... I think the funny part about this is it was shot in Makati.
22:48.4
So, dami kong pinagsasabi, alone in Melbourne, but it's actually in Makati.
22:53.4
But, you know, it looks good.
22:57.4
Simula naman sila ng letter M. Pareho sila, Melbourne and Makati, mga kamarkada.
23:02.4
Kaya kakalusot pa rin. At syempre, ito na ating unang challenge for Joshua. Ito.
23:09.4
Ito. Speaking of Alone, Joshua, what are the three items?
23:10.4
Ito. Speaking of Alone, Joshua, what are the three activities you would like to do alone?
23:16.4
Three activities lang muna tayo. Okay.
23:18.4
Okay. One thing I think is writing, actually.
23:23.4
So, I love writing collaboratively, pero I also love writing alone.
23:27.4
And I think the reason is I'm a perfectionist.
23:30.4
And, you know, like the same line, like one line, you might see me write it for like hours and hours.
23:36.4
Because, you know, I need it to be perfect.
23:39.4
I think being alone, like, helps with that. Helps me really get in my feelings, get in my thoughts.
23:44.4
And, yeah. So, that's one thing.
23:48.4
What's another thing?
23:52.4
Well, I'm clingy, so I like to do things with other people.
23:55.4
Like, even when it comes to working or watching, I do it with other people.
24:02.4
I guess, cooking.
24:07.4
Actually, very therapeutic siya, cooking alone.
24:10.4
Like, with just TV on in the background.
24:15.4
I still make a lot of mistakes, but still.
24:18.4
Oh, one thing. Lifting, exercising.
24:20.4
Especially after a tough day.
24:22.4
Like, when I'm feeling frustrated, angry, I just want to let it all out.
24:25.4
You know, I just want to lift and scream.
24:29.4
24:43.4
So, sana Joshua, hindi ka na magiging alone for today's video, ha?
24:47.4
Kasi yun nga, nandito ating pangalawa na challenge for you sa ating Alone in the Coffee Challenge.
24:53.4
Here we go. Ah, ito na.
24:55.4
Fictional character you would like to be with para hindi ka na magiging alone.
25:00.4
Actually, meron na tayong little preview, Joshua, kung di ako nagkakamali sa mga sagot mo.
25:04.4
Kasi a little in your background.
25:05.4
Nakikita namin. You have some...
25:13.4
So, sino nga ba? Fictional characters.
25:18.4
There's so many. I feel like...
25:21.4
Okay, recency bias lang. I just watched Deadpool 3.
25:24.4
I don't know if you guys watched it.
25:27.4
Pero, feel ko baka masaya kasama si Deadpool.
25:30.4
Kasi, I'm very talkative. Like, I could talk for hours and hours.
25:35.4
Baka we would get along. Baka the ADHD would all line up.
25:40.4
Ah, so you're an extrovert at heart, Joshua, or an introvert?
25:45.4
I'd like to say I'm an extrovert. I love talking. I love being with people.
25:51.4
But, syempre, I have those moments of, like, I just want to be by myself.
25:55.4
Like, just, you know, when I'm not in the mood. Pero, yeah, usually I'd say extrovert.
26:01.4
Kasi sinabi mo, clingy ka eh. Paano mo itong clingy na ito? Gusto namin malaman. Wow.
26:04.4
How is Joshua clingy pagdating sa mga kaibigan or ganyan? Paano ba? Paano kang...
26:11.4
Wala, message lang, message sa group chats. Oh, anyone free today? Anyone free?
26:17.4
I work from home kasi. So, you know, as much as possible, I like to be around people.
26:22.4
So, I'm like, oh, is anyone working at Katip? Anyone working at Maginhawa?
26:26.4
And then, wala, labas. Diretso, I just bring my laptop. And, you know, I'm always game to go on an adventure with friends.
26:34.4
Eto, let's go.
26:46.4
Where in the Philippines would you like to have your next vacation? Para doon ka na mag-work from vacation.
26:53.4
Yeah, alone tayo pwede.
26:56.4
I think, ano, Tagaytay. I love Tagaytay. Just the cold air and just being able to walk around.
27:03.4
I had some really, really good samgipsel last time. Nakalimutan ko yung name.
27:09.4
When was the last time you went to Tagaytay ba, Joshua? When was the last time?
27:13.4
Last year pa yun eh.
27:15.4
Ah, last year pa. Anong mga last week na or last month?
27:19.4
Kasi kailangan mo na talaga bumalik na yung Tagaytay with that.
27:24.4
Aso sa man lang, layo-layo ng Tagaytay sa'yo. Kaya mo yan, Joshua. Parang behind there.
27:32.4
Parang lesson na yan sa'yo na lumabas na ng bahay very soon.
27:35.4
Kasi baka naka-work from home ka ng bonggang-bongga and you've been busy with creating music for us sa Joshua.
27:41.4
Kaya Joshua, nalampasan mo ang ating Alone in the Philippines Challenge.
27:45.4
Hopefully, you'll not be alone. A little bit better dito sa ating programa.
27:50.4
Magusti niyo sumama sa Tagaytay.
27:52.4
Oo, sasama kami doon sa Samgipsel.
27:55.4
Kasi nga, ibabiyakin ka from Tacloba. Pagpunta mo nila.
28:00.4
Nakikain lang kami mga kamurkanan at kamuksal. Pero syempre, excited kami kasi you've been talking about the EP na Alone in Melbourne and more music collaboration in this.
28:09.4
Paano ba natin itong masuportahan pa at panuorin at syempre, pakinggan pa ang mga music ng EP na ito, Joshua?
28:16.4
And invite our kamurkanas din na i-follow ka sa social media accounts mo. Go!
28:20.4
Oh, okay. So, if you want to hear more of my music, please follow me sa atjoshuakimmusic on all socmed.
28:28.4
So, it's atjoshuakim, my name and then the word music. I usually post to IG, Facebook. It's also the same for TikTok and X or Twitter.
28:41.4
And if you want to hear my songs, please go to my YouTube channel on Spotify. Just type Joshua Kim and I should be the result that comes up.
28:50.4
Actually, so before, like years ago, I'd make a lot of music videos that I think are really, really good with my good friend,
28:58.4
Ethan. We would shoot a lot of videos. So, yun, like one of my songs, Sincerely, has a stop-motion music video.
29:05.4
And talagang mahirap yun. Like three people, it took them a few days like non-stop as in animating like by hand.
29:12.4
So, gumawa sila ng flowers, hands, and like it's beautiful. It's hard for me to describe it.
29:17.4
So, please look up Sincerely on YouTube by Joshua Kim. And yeah, check out my other music videos. I'd love to see you there.
29:28.4
Joshua, maraming salamat. And of course, Pio, salamat.
29:30.4
Mga pa, gusto kong pasalamatan this morning.
29:32.4
We'd like to greet your friends watching right now, your fans watching for a good time from our Facebook and their YouTube.
29:39.4
This is the chance, Joshua. Patiin mo na sila.
29:41.4

Hi, Teacher Jeng.
30:35.4
Ang dami ang gusto matutunan ni Joshua for today.
30:37.4

30:55.4
Wala, just being with friends, doing anything.
30:58.4
Kahit lying around, doing nothing, binging TV shows.
31:01.4
Basta kasama yung friends ko, good time na yan.
31:04.4
That's a good time for Joshua.
31:06.4

31:09.4

31:11.4
We had such fun talking to you ngayong August.
31:14.4
Balik ka agad anytime you are welcome here, Joshua.
31:19.4
O, totoo yan. Kasi nabibigay sa amin na being alone, mga kamarkada, is not a bad thing.
31:24.4
But it's also a path to self-discovery and self-love para sa ating mga kamarkada.
31:28.4
So, hopefully, alone in Melbourne man kayo, alone in Tacloban, alone in Baguio, or alone anywhere in the world, ay hindi kayo nag-iisa in spirit and in your heart.

Okay? Maraming salamat.
31:38.4
